Save the WoW talk for Fleet Gen Chat.

That being said, I think booting you may have been a bit harsh.
I almost got kicked from a FlashPoint yesterday for daring to look at the scenery (the new Rakata Prime one). I find WoW references annoying, but wouldn't leave a group over it (or want someone kicked).
The Arcada Legacy (Ebon Hawk)
Ord'os (Lvl.55 Sorcerer), Naresa (Lvl.53 Operative), Jagrafess (Lvl.19 Marauder)
Nydus (Lvl.54 Shadow), Toclafane (Lvl.27 Guardian)

My guess is that they didn't care all that much about WoW.
Were you a poorly geared DPS by any chance? It's possible they saw your health and decided to be jerks since you'd be easily replaced by a better geared one anyway (DPS are a dime a dozen after all).
Thanks for showing us you listen to our feedback, Bioware!

In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

A belated question:

OP, are you a Marauder?
What we must fight for is to safeguard the existence of the Sith race and the Sith people, the glory of our children and the purity of our blood, the freedom and independence of the Empire, so that we may fulfill the mission allotted us by the Force itself. Everything must be examined from this point of view and used or rejected according to its utility.

They were probably just shocked that someone actually said anything at all during a FP.

Usually it's dead silence, so they may have gotten anxious over having to interact.

Nobody cares that much, you must have done something else.

WoW is like any other industry leader, or the leader of certain segments of an industry such as Facebook, Apple, Microsoft and Google. With that much brand recognition, it is bound to have a lot of haters to go along with the legions of fanboys. Silly as it may sound to get so worked up over an entertainment product/company, some people can still get pretty impassioned regardless.

As such, it doesn't really surprise me to hear about gamers raging over the mere mentioning of "WoW" but it does surprise me that they would exercise the kick option due to it. Seems rather juvenile and pubescent.

Almost certainly the exact opposite: done nothing else.
