no the post 2.0 ones only added content in specific areas, they did not bring sweeping content upgrades. Also they are not even expansions by Bioware's definition because in case you didn't notice, swtor's version number was not increased for either of them.

You must have missed the part where Bioware called both of them expansions.

Correction BW's PR department called them expansions. Also you really need to read the entire post, you completely missed the main point.

I don't give a crap about what the PR department calls it. I only care about what it really is, and since neither GSF nor GSH gave enough content to increase the version number, then neither can be classed as true expansions. But hey you won't read this, since you probably will stop reading around the second word, because in the modern age people are to lazy to read entire responses.

Until you create the content and work for Bioware, you can't say it's not an expansion and be correct. If they call it an expansion, it's an expansion, That's fact.

And yes I read your entire post, even the second half which is a personal attack because you're upset with me proving you wrong.

Main page SWTOR.com - About

Game Updates - http://www.swtor.com/gameupdates
Digital Expansions - http://www.swtor.com/galactic-strongholds

^Note that Galactic Strongholds is what the Digital Expansions part of the About section directs to when you click it. This doesn't reflect my opinion(s) on the situation, I'm just posting what Bioware provides on their site.

It is strange that their Digital Expansions page is solely GSH with no links to or mention of GSF or RoTHC while their Game Updates page has links at the bottom to prior updates.

I have to agree that the players opinion on what an expansion is doesn't really matter, nor does the version number really matter.

I think MMO gamers also need to get out of the mindset of an expansion being something that comes in a box and has a ton of content. That is a dated way of thinking, as is the idea that F2P means a game has failed. The realities of the gaming world are drastically different than they were years ago. The increase in options and choices players have means MMO players are much more fickle and mobile and simply aren't going to wait 2+ years for a massive content dump. It makes much more sense to parcel it out to keep them interested and subbing.

If it helps to think of them as "mini expansions" then I suppose that's fine, but an expansion is whatever the developers call it. And I think the days of MMOs releasing massive expansions is over--there's too much competition in MMO gaming and no game big enough (except WoW, obviously) where a major company is going to invest huge amounts of money into massive expansions on a game that has 500k players.

I'd LOVE to see a massive SWTOR expansion, but I don't think it's going to happen.

The pages are still there. There's just no direct link so to speak.

Replace "strongholds" with "starfighter" in the link.
Replace "galactic-strongholds" with "rothc" in the link.

Currently we are on patch

2.10.

2 is the version number
10 is the update number

A true expansion (we call these expansions because that is the industry term for the word, fck whatever the PR department says) would change the first number.

If only the second number is changed then its a update

The numbering schemes exist for a reason, and for the love of god stop repeating what the PR department says verbatim, seriously its the PR department, they are paid to overhype and blow everything out of proportion.

They are still expansions, their are links above your post that say expansion when describing them. The creators of these expansions called them expansions. You saying they are not expansions is incorrect.

Well, that's your opinion on the matter. Too bad it doesn't matter to BW or any of us. It is what it is.

And besides, who cares what they call it or how they number it, as long as we keep getting new content and improvements to the game?
