People RP in flashpoints sometimes. I guess it's SO helpful during flashpoint.

/facepalm
Isn't RP in a flashpoint FP info? Or at least it is to me. But that's different from, as an up thread post said, a surgeon operating on you talking about his NFL team instead of inquiring about say, how long it's been since the surgery started, or how much blood is needed for a transfusion, y'know, medical stuff.

I'm sorry, but this is GAME. Not my surgeon.
Follow "surgeon" logic - why don't they bomb that dude house? Why don't kill all his family?

OH MY GOD!!!! HE'S TAKING ABOUT WOW!!! KILL HIM!!! NAO!!!!

From my view - those guys are just nerds with too much free time and too much love for games (omg, if you insult someone becouse he loves different game - you need help).

So you don't see why people playing one game would like the others in the group, playing the same game, to talk about things relevant to that game? No one's saying don't talk about WoW while playing swtor. We're saying don't talk about it during a FP when everyone has something to do. Save it for fleet chat or the forums. That's entirely besides the fact that you should know WoW is a touchy subject with a lot of people playing this game.

As far as calling people nerds; we're all playing the same game, we're all nerds. It's not like that's anything to be ashamed of anyway.

I doubt it was WoW talk that got you vote kicked, lately I have come across some random players in FP groups who are vote kick happy and think its fun and games to punish some one that way, I think those are the kids/adults who never been spanked by the parents and get away bulling others, its like this in many MMOs.

Again, it's a vote system. You're saying it's a coincidence he was talking about wow, not fighting during a FP and he got grouped with 3 people who just kicked him for no reason? Occam's Razor I agree that is probably wasn't cause of WoW, but not because he was so (un)lucky to get 3 people who wanted to kick him for no reason.

If this is a Hard Mode flashpoint, non-topical discussion is especially frowned upon. That also may have drawn attention to your gear and/or playing ability. If either was lacking, they now are perfectly justified in kicking you. Hardmodes are not casual chat it up experiences.

Further, if it's a tactical flashpoint in the current Forged Alliances series, it's pretty much treated the same way. Yes, it's tactical but since no hard modes were released for it that has put all playstyles into the same pot. Obviously, that causes tension. Many players have 0 tolerance for wasted time since it's what we've been taught for the last 20 years or so of MMO gaming.

TLR just don't chat about WoW while doing something in a group

If you want to have a conversation, chat in general chat. Flashpoints are a mission not chat time.

If you were in a HM, yeah I can see this happening. We are there to get the daily done or farm decorations, not chat. Some people are on a limited time budget and some are trying to get as much daily content done as they can during the day. Both consider their time valuable and wish to complete things quickly. I sometimes try to squeeze in my GF dailies right before the reset.

Not to say that all conversation is discouraged. Intelligent groups will realize that a fight explanation is quicker than kicking someone and waiting for a replacement. Or, as mentioned above, a question or two about the bonus boss. Or gear drops. Though, I've not seen many people who have needed to ask about gear.

Finally, mentioning WoW at all is bound to garner some annoyance. For good reason. Better off to play and, if the feeling compels you to still look for WoW vets, approach players differently.

You are boring. Really.

I imagine how i will having sex with those rules.
No kisses. No hands.
ONLY FRICTIONS.
Yes. If you don't like it - ill push you off.
And don't you even dare to whisper me some endearing words in my ears.

Seriously, it's a GAME. Not your job. Have fun with people. Chat with them.

Standing around typing isn't my idea of fun. Neither is discussing WoW.

You know what happens in real life when people have differing ideas of what is fun? They add each other to their ignore list and move on with life. Same thing that happens here.
