The reason like other people mentioned, its off topic and sadly, I've seen such a question leading up to basically one-sided game comparisons that doesn't foster goodwill towards one another especially during a run.

Personally, if you had exactly said that and nothing else, I wouldn't have kicked BUT I would be cautious about you from the start of the fp to the finish.
Still does not hurt to be polite and say "sorry friend I don't play wow" but sometimes people have a bad day etc and the opposite happens, then again it's like being at a Green Bay football game and saying so anyone here like the Pats?

So I guess the lesson of the day is when in a FP full of pugs, don't bring up non-swtor related things when the group is trying to complete the FP, least of all WoW.

I then mentioned that I was a 8 Year WoW vet then the next thing I saw was that I got removed from the group. Why are players so touchy about this subject?
Players....I don't think players are touchy about it. I think that one group leader probably was.

But then again I have seen people kicked for telling chuck norris jokes. And jawa replacements.

You played WoW for 8 years. This is not likely a new concept for you. I am sure you have seen plenty of folks kicked for silly reasons plenty of times.

Even if the group leader wanted him kicked it still comes up in a vote during flashpoints so it was a group decision. At most the group leader started the vote, but really any player in the group can start it.

That's a fair point. But I would also counter that I have heard folks talk quite often about voting to kick without bothering to see why....they figure if someone initiates they will kick regardless of reason.

But that is stretching it a bit. You make a good point.

they probably thought you were another piece of garbage WoW player, not in skill but in principle.... the people infesting that game nowadays are pure trash, the community is toxic and most normal well adjusted people tend to want to avoid those kinds of people at all costs

Or...they just wanted to get the FP over with and the guy was talking and not fighting. I couldn't care less if someone came from WoW if they're doing their job.

There's such a thing as being on topic. If a doctor is operating on you then you probably don't want him talking about his favorite NFL team, right? You probably want him to pay attention to what he is doing. Same rule applies here. This isn't a "free speech issue" and it's not stifling anyone's precious creativity. You can save your inane chatter for later, but when you're in the middle of a FP, god dammit, pay attention! Nobody gives a crap about what you played before.

Wow... So many people claim that FP chat must be used ONLY for FP info.
People RP in flashpoints sometimes. I guess it's SO helpful during flashpoint.

I'm afraid you are misunderstanding here. rp in a flashpoint is related to something you are doing in a flashpoint yes? or at least you are directly interacting with other characters there. making commentary about general TOR things, story, whatever - its still relevant. its just out of the blue question about another MMO that many see as direct competitor to SWTOR, coached in terms of "which game is better, the one you are all playing right now, or WoW" you don't see how it might be just a tad jarring? its to be honest, not different from randomly starting discussing politics, or average salaries or whatever.
