In an FP, people are usually more interested in getting the fights done than chatting and idea sharing.

Yeah, it's nice though to talk with people in the group though, some groups just flat out rush and but . Maybe the op was just trying to start conversation though....

It is nice, and it likely was an attempt to start convos, but from my experience, other than a 'haha' or '<bleep>' or similar comments in cut scenes or commands on who to fight when and how, very little is said in group chat for FPs, usually. Maybe asking why one LS choice, and a DS choice another time, but other than that... Pretty quiet.

Oh, and "thanks for grouping" is said a lot.

Yeah, I have been in tactics though with some very friendly people, who do chat. And I have been in some that frankly make me sick to my stomach at the derogatory comments on someone's type of character.... Sad but true though unfortunately i

I then mentioned that I was a 8 Year WoW vet then the next thing I saw was that I got removed from the group. Why are players so touchy about this subject?
you were being annoying; its not meant to be an insult but this thread is kind of annoying too.

its a multiplayer game, so you have to try to fit in. people in fps dont want to sit and chat about other games...or chat at all.

I actually like to chat. But then again I'm also a wow vet.

And to simply answer your question:
- Wow community is way worse (even with raidfinder)
- Wow Interface kicks sw:tor all over the place
- In swtor hardly anyone uses dmgmeters. That is a good thing.
- Content: Story, Mood, Immersion, Classes: Swtor wins
- Performance, PvP.Arena-mechanics: WoW wins.
and so on...

If you like "pro-gaming", and "simple": WoW
If you like "story" and "customize": Swtor

Well... just one opinion.

It depends if you are debating or actually fighting in the flashpoint.

1 especially with raidfinder.
2. addons are more extensive than swotr's base UI, WoW base UI is beyond awful.
3. any guild that's in any way serious about progression - uses parsec, we just don't have e-peen meters you can wave around in pug groups and spam in chat.
4. arena, pvp etc? subjective. I can't stand WoW pvp personaly, and big part of it is due to lack of bolster. yes, bolster. becasue you see, when you pvp in TOR while leveling? you may not have some of the higher level abilities, but you at least have comparable health and abilities that you do have - hit the same as someone higher level than you. so it becomes more about the skill. in WoW? even with smaller brackets that they have - you are still pretty much fresh meat the moment you hit a new bracket. but there are other reasons why I personally prefer SWTOR to WoW, and in part - it actual warzone setup. but.. like I said, subjective.

as for your conclusion, pro-gaming? wow? /dies laughing. WoW hasn't been "pro-gaming" since mid Cataclysm.

aaanyways, OP. what exactly was the point of bringing up WoW in a random group with what sounds like no reason or lead in? people are generally here to play ToR, not WoW, and randomly mentioning it is usually done in order to start a troll war. pun not intended. I used to play WoW. for a while. still occasionally come back to it. but there's literally no point in quizzing your random pug about it, with no provocation. especially since you are asking people to compare the two... while in a middle of group content. I may not have kicked you but I would have called you out on it. personally.

I support bolded part so much. Anywhere else ingame you would ask "Anyone from WoW?" I would've answered in a normal fashion because usually, general chat is more or less neutral grounds to talk about other mmos. However there's something about when its mentioned during some group activity like a fp or a wz that just gets me tense. The reason like other people mentioned, its off topic and sadly, I've seen such a question leading up to basically one-sided game comparisons that doesn't foster goodwill towards one another especially during a run.

Personally, if you had exactly said that and nothing else, I wouldn't have kicked BUT I would be cautious about you from the start of the fp to the finish.
