I agree! Get rid of the ACs and just toss in the extra 2 trees and let players decide what they want to do today. Great suggestion!!!

I feel like this thread just keeps getting bumped because people like to argue and it's a slow day.

Before any of you come with "nuh-uh! I really want this thing!?" It's not going to change my perspective on how I view this bloated thread.

Most people agree with this
one time cartel item like the name change for 1000cc
one month cooldown like the other items.
Gearing to the appropriate level is entirely the players responsibility he will be in the same gear.( this might be a plus for DPS but Tanks and Healers will have to gear themselves anyways)
Maybe a starting weapon like the orange moddable u get at lvl 10 with the appropriate offhand (lvl 10 not lvl 55 ones)

Then why isn't everyone running around as Bounty Hunters and Imperial Agents. If that's your class, stay as it.

Never suggested people quit. Just curious as to why people don't want to level a different Advanced Class. No time? Laziness? Don't enjoy the leveling experience? What is it?

So to you, the "flexibilty to be fluid" is being able to swap Advanced Classes. Because why? Why is it so important? (and please give an answer if you respond and not just a dodgy question)

Some people do. There are at least 4 55's in my guild that haven't picked an AC. Most went Trooper but one did Knight.

Who cares why. It's no more of a concern to you than if I respec between DPS and Heals. Why allow that even? My point is, I don't give a **** what AC you want to play. Whether you log on to an alt or respec AC to something else, it's the same result for me. It doesn't impact ME in ANY way.

Because player retention should be #1. Players are asked to pick heads or tails at level 10'ish...but it isn't until end game activities that that choice makes any difference. If I pick heals at 10, but realize at 55 that tanks are more in demand and more my style, why not allow me to change? Players come and go daily in the MMO world...departing players create voids in roles they filled. Let the players who want to fill those voids, do so with ease.

why allow -any- respecs at all?
What's the difference between swapping acs in this game and swapping specs in several others (including wow)? What are you afraid would happen if players could swap acs(not bcs)? Why not give players a little more flexibilty and room for experimentation with their main character? The answers to all of those questions have been extremely dodgy (calling the asker names like "lazy" is 8-year-old dodge tactic #1).

I think its more fun to see the people cry and moan that this would bring DOOOOOOOM to the game. it will most likely never happen and they get all emotional over it, so people keep pushing their buttons.

The difference between respeccing and changing your advanced class is HUGE.

Sorc: heals or ranged DPS
Assassin: tank or melee DPS.
Sorcs and Assassins (off the top of my head) don't share any abilities in an optimized rotation except in the SHARED tree and the play styles are wildly different.

Operative: heals or melee DPS
Sniper: ranged DPS
Same thing. Two VERY DIFFERENT classes and play styles. They share (I think) 1 ability in their rotation, their free shot.

Powertech: tank or melee DPS
Mercenary: heals or ranged DPS
Again, no shared abilities except for the free shot (shared tree is the exception)

Juggernaut: tank or melee DPS
Marauder: melee DPS
I'm won't pretend that I know the differences. I only have a Juggernaut DPS. But my guess would be they don't share any abilities, or maybe 1, 2 tops.

What I'm getting at is this:

Although each set of 2 Advanced Classes shares a "Base Class", the differences between each of those Advanced Classes is so big that they really are their own class.

Changing an Assassin to a Sorcerer would be like changing (from other games) a Druid to a Mage, a Marine to a Siege Tank or a Barbarian to a Witch Doctor. Each of those are their own individual Classes. As are the Advanced Classes of SWTOR.

Some folks went and made inexplicable sacred cows out of ac's, looks like.
