Morels and manners.

Before anyone starts about me being some noob / newb / nub / nuub/ or other variant there of. Please look at the age of this game and my account then if yours is older then mine you may be able to talk this way and not actually be an ignorant moron. That said now when we first started people weren't so bad but as time went on manners were worsening and the morels seemed to decay, and because at first star wars was controlled by George Lucas it seemed people felt that it was ok after all his died as he got older as did his children. However, with Disney supposedly at the helm it seems a bit wrong to continue to allow such bad behavior to go unchallenged. I realize many are adults so the filter was made for the younger crowds in mind. My big question is What are we supposed to do about this behavior ignore it and in essence reward the child / child like person for their actions saying its right? personally i think something should be designed developed or added to correct such actions in game and bring back some value. After all, though George Lucas lets his morels and manners go, the star wars universe was made as his way of telling a story with morels and manners to his children. though it seems many forget about that little truth with all the hype and news portrayals of the way it is now.

What does account numbers have to do with being a noob/newb. I've met plenty of people that play games at launch and they are still a newb/noob. Anyway, back on topic.

I'm not sure if I'm getting this right, but I assume this thread is about what we can do to address immature behavior ingame. If so, there is no one guaranteed way to "fix" immature behaviour. It will always be part of the MMO nature because there are immature people who play MMOs.

If it bothers you, put them on ignore and you won't see them talking in chat again and won't get paired up with them in groupfinder queues. If you see someone being immature in chat by doing something like death threats, report the person then /ignore.

As for George Lucas and Disney, I'm not sure how they exactly fit into all this?

I'm glad you had a rational response. I couldn't move past my sudden craving for mushrooms
My name is Milind. I checked it again and can confirm you there is no bug with any companion in the game.

Well now a suggestion I heard from in game was to report their behavior as immature out right. As to my main reason for this is the nature in which people act on the game can be abusive enough even if not thought to be that it may influence some children to commit crimes or suicide without a warning sign. I personally might have acted that way if this had been the treatment on me as a teen due to my enclosed nature. sharing emotions seemed wrong to me for an unknown reason. Others are the same way as proven by school shootings and other violent acts. Where do we curb the immature adults and teens so that the game can become a more positive influence for all playing. Oh, and I would like to note I am a concerned parent of a teenager who plays this game as well.

Not trying to be offensive or anything, but I think you're getting a tad bit paranoid. While it is certainly true stuff like someone committing suicide over a game could happen, it is very unlikely to happen.

In the end, it is the parent's responsibility to be monitoring their kid(s). If you feel this is an unsafe environment for your kid(s) to play it, don't let them play it or find an alternative way to solve the problem. There will always be rude and immature people in MMOs.

Bioware has given us the tools to solve these issues on our own in the form of ignore, report, and the chat filter. And, if worst comes to worst, you can always turn off chat altogether.

This is a game and not necessarily an outlet to human nature. I think Essence is correct when he says you are being paranoid. I mean you have to remember that this the internet and you can't police this game 24/7 it simply is not possible.

I might also add that this game is NOT family entertainment. There is so much blood and murder as well as adult themes of sex that to me, it is more adult entertainment than anything else. So, again I do not understand what you are trying to achieve here. I mean I get that you are a parent but you do not speak for all parents and thus can't dictate how they should teach their children to act.

Are you suggesting people might commit suicide over SW Episode VII?

And it's 'morals'.

EDIT: There are a few documented cases of people playing a MMORPG too long at one sitting. There is also the kid who committed suicide over something that happened in EQ.

Here:

Please note, statistically speaking, given the millions that play EQ, WOW, et al, and only two kids commit suicide? While tragic (and I would bet they each had issues OUTSIDE the game as well) that is far under the national norm.

Two things.

If you want to take abour morals and manners, perhaps you should avoid terminology like "ignorant moron". You are a poor representative of your opinion.

Secondly, in case you didn't get the jokes, morels are mushrooms. Morals is the word you were looking for.

Makes thread about morals (yes, it's spelled morals, not morels) and manners.
Accuses people of being ignorant morons in the second sentence.

Good job!
