I'm in the same boat....I can't log in at all, it says: unable to retrieve patch data; please check network connection ( 311). I hope they fix it soon...this is very frustrating.

Found one way to resolved the issue, change your DNS to 37.235.1.174
Here is a link on how to do it.

You shouldn't need to do anything like that, all was fine until strongholds .... well, maybe not fine, but ok. Then one day after patch, and people all over the world are having issues, and Boiware / EA / etc ..... are saying there's nothing wrong, but then say the techs are working on it.
They're nearly as bad as CCP with Eve Online.

Server# Can't login onto either Shadowlands/ Harbinger server
Characters# Revan, Bastilashan, Junko'zane, Alhenas, Tzandria (Managed to login but all after an hour of playing, could not get back in on ALL high and low lvl characters)
Last actions# Crafting, Ops running and questing, busily mucking around with the stronghold

Bioware, seriously you need to compensate us for this issue by giving us either free game time, comms or cartel coins. Get Rid BitRaider - find a better download provider for that.

Clearly you guys had dropped the ball on this one, you have to accept it Bioware that you are at fault and need to get your customers back online as soon as possible. Cough it up and admit that thing could have been better if you guys had more time to handle the situation better.

Stuck with installing 97.99% However waiting on more results, friends of mine having Network error 311 but we have no proxy or firewall blocking us. Checked with ISP and they believe it you guys, not them.

The issue sounds like it has failed to resolve the global load balancers/DNS for the address cdn-patch.swtor.com There was a fix mentioned about four patches ago. The workaround was to add the following line to the HOST file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts)

64.145.87.64 cdn-patch.swtor.com

Once added, open a command prompt as an administrator and run the following command

IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

Then you should be able to ping the CDN server now.

Now restart SWTOR and good luck.

Can log in one day, but not the next, some cryptic "Network 311" error that prevents you from logging in... You have to be some tech savvy guru with IT degrees oozing out of orifices to figure it out & Bioware is blaming service providers? Was working ok prior to Strongholds, now a total car wreck. Blind Freddy on a bus out of town in another country at night time can see who's at fault here. For crying out loud Bioware, grow some balls, admit you screwed up AND FIX IT! We are paying hard earned dollars to play a game, not cop lame buck passing excuses! Treat your customers with RESPECT... If you have never heard of that word(clearly you haven't!), look it up in a dictionary... Plenty online, if YOUR service providers haven't stuffed up! Compensation would not be out of order here.
So what's your special power? Boring people to death?

Hey Bioware - would you mind putting the plug back in? I would dearly love to play again
