Shadows / Assassins actually had both at one point but it was removed. Enemy NPC's still have that ability, though in their case it is actually channeled.

The obvious answer is that merc and commando can heal.

Reported.

just kidding. I run a vanguard tank and I have a leveled commando. I like the vanguard more for the survivability.

at least that was the problem for me when it comes to dpsing on either. I have one of each and they are both tanks. but.. thing is... very few people like playing tanks. and there you have it.

in short - vanguards powertech need a better gap closer. heck, if they take that tanking tree talent and just make it baseline?... that would be nice.
If you're tanking as a vanguard/powertech you get a force leapesque ability that a lot of people forget you have.. You also get the hook. The Vanguard has tons of utility.

While PT/VG DPS is essentially melee, we have enough ranged ability to make closing the gap less of an issue. If a mob jumps or ports away and warriors/knights jump to it, sins/shadows force speed, we're firing on the run while we get there, at least.

I rolled my PT when the game launched and was very disappointed to get to fleet and discover that I could only use a pistol....I thought for sure I could use a blaster rifle (Its not like the most iconic bounty hunter in the SW universe used one or something.....sigh)

I'd like to see a wider array of available weapons used by all classes but thats a different rant altogether.
Baeric - PT - DPS
Najeh - Assassin - Tank
Lugwrench - Commando - Heals

and yeah, as its been mentioned... can't grapple a boss. and even if you could.. that would be... a very bad idea as a dps, since with bosses positioning tends to be very important.
Me DPS me no understand. Me grapple everything so me see big numbers sooner. Me sad boss no move when I grapple so me can't see big numbers sooner. BW fix this me want to grapple boss so me see big number sooner.

Why more mercs than vanguards?

It's a fairly easy class to play given it's DPS rotation, has some base healing even when DPS as well as bring some nice utility as a DPS.

Then you have the option to turn full heals PLUS you get to carry this BIG CANNON.

Likewise...I played Commando in beta, and never gave another class a chance. The ability to knock NPCs off a ledge to their death, sealed the deal for me. Vanguard is nearly as fun, just not quite imo.
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force
