I'm getting really sick and tired of the "Credits are so easy to get exaggerations".

I am sure that would fall into Darth's more advanced Making Credits 301 course.

TL;DR: 'never buying from the GTN' means 'don't spend 45k buying some new earpiece when a quest reward will do just as well.'
Exactly so. I'm trying to keep it simple since my target audience seems to be posters who haven't mastered the basics yet. Information for more advanced business-players can be found on the Crew Skills forum.

That said, playing the market requires a decent bankroll due to the costs of things you'll buy plus the risk of ruin inherent. I've been playing the economy in MMO's for a dozen years and I still won't play the flipping game with anything except a clear sure thing, such as the ultra-rare time that someone mistakenly posts an item for default value and everything else is listed for 10x or more the price.

Well I think you are making assumptions based on your current level. Once you have one geared toon between level 50-55 credits become a non-isssue as long as you are doing minimal things to generate revenue asn DarthTHC outlined.

Now there is a catch.
In my first st 6 months I was pretty poor too, but there wasn't anyone around to advise me on two keys:
1. Sometimes you have to sacrifice "play time" in order to conduct profiteering excerises. In my case, I didn't understand that I had to dedicate a few hours a week JUST sending my companions out and leveling up my crafting skills. I would cease all leveling activities and progression to hasten my revenue increases.

2. I would also say, if you are a casual, until you get one toon geared at level 50+ and financially stable, you should hold off on leveling alts. One of the keys to all of this is having giving your main the ability to generate revenue, while you are playing alts. Sending the companions on missions, keep the timer in mind while playing alts, log back in to your main, send them back out, log into alt. Rinse repeat.

I designed my guide in my Sig box for PvP players, but it really applies to everyone. You need a specific setup to be financially stable, you need mules to be rich. Also check out the dailies in the reserved section. My take is that it is unreasonable to do all dailies, so limit it to the fastest 3 daily run. Your goal is to make 4000 cr./min, you need Slicing though.
PvP Gear Viability? Read this first.
Tired of being broke? Stop being Felica and read this.
I'm not trying to be Rambo..... I'm trying to be Ray Tango

This is a VERY VERY good post IMO. This should be put in a bible for new players.

Re: not buying off GTN...

I just was buying Level 9 UWT metal for 280 creds a sheet. That's less than it costs to run the mission (not counting the thousands that go into even getting to L9 UWT missions!)

While at that, I was doing my usual scroll for all raw mats in hopes to find a good resell deal, and really, for all mats on my server, the prices are in 150-400 per sheet range, often basically for the mission run value. And a LOT of the low level mats sell at <100 creds range per sheet. Literally for 20-50 creds.

So, selling the raw mats will not yield enough for covering a cost of say L15 blue heavy armor (which I regularly sell for ~ 16 -18 thou) or the good old medium gray that goes for 16 thou.

Seeing, that I do not engage into high risk-high reward stuff like Heroics and Flashpoints, it is far easier to equip a toon + companion through developed crafting than through comms. And, I like crafting too

plus, some stuff, like L53/54 purple implants for 26-32 thou improve the performance dramatically, but you will never ever get good implants drops in the game (my last drops was like a crappy L44 blue on a L55 character). So, that 120 thou investment into self and companion pays in avoiding 10 death costs....

I dunno. For me, the dailies on a high level char are the answer rather than GTN. It's far more reliable!

Buy them all. Buy them all right now. With Dark Projects/prefabs coming, you're going to make a killing in a week.

Washing dishes, making up bed, mowing the lawn, getting the door, playing with your kids, doing homework, flushing the toilet.....

They are all easy.

Do we like to do them?

Why would you refer to yourself as "we"?

I like to wash dishes because I have to eat and bacterial infections are dramatically reduced when I do so.
I make my bed because I share it with another person and I like not being a slob.
I mow the lawn because I like the smell of fresh cut grass and it's a form of exercise.
I like getting the door to stop the incessant sound of the doorbell.
I like doing homework because it makes me smarter than I was before doing it.
I like flushing the toilet because the stuff I excrete smells and it sure beats digging a hole in the backyard.

Each task serves a purpose and has a benefit to it. Life isn't like facebook, noone gives two s**ts whether you like it or not. You have to do it in order to reap the benefits of doing so. The alternative makes you look like this.

Um, flushing the toilet/getting the door/making up bed takes up seconds.
The rest of this, I thankfully do not do - no kids(ever!), no lawn, and I prefer to eat fruit and fresh vegetables at home.

So, really, everyone has their own lifestyle and playstyle - not everybody's grinding.

There would have to be more than one question that wasn't sheer lackadaisical rhetoric for that to qualify as a "questionnaire."
And... what I said is:

Every task you mentioned is a dirty, or tedious, and in some cases a necessary task. If that upsets you, too bad.

I get it, you don't like to do chores and you compared earning credits to washing dishes and flushing a toilet.

I can unsubscribe any time I like and let the game sit for a few months, if I did the same with my dishes or my toilet... well...
