my problem is i run about 36-56 fps for a good min or so then it drops randomly to 1-3 then after 15-30 secs it jumps back up to 50+ im tried everything the threads have said and nothing is working i did a test on www.systemrequirementslab.com and it passed said everything on my pc would play the game. im not sure what else to do to fix it, not even sure if its on my end or the games engine.

So I'm another one of the folks the frame rate issues are messing with, though I originally posted in the wrong forums. I've been messing around with it all day, trying various things to get it working on my end. My issue may or may not be a little different than some described here. I get smooth 30+ fps for several minutes, and then it drops to less than 5, usually less than 2 or sometimes 1, for a few minutes. Then, it repeats. Doesn't matter where I am ... I can be standing still in the middle of nowhere with no one near me graphics on max or min and it still happens. The only temporary fix I could come up with for me was to tab out of the game for about 30 seconds or so. Not quite a great fix, but it cuts the wait time in half of waiting for the fps to go back to smooth. (Is there a "flush" command with this game where one can force the graphics to reload (other than cycling the settings from low to high and back to low)?)

However, I was messing around with monitoring my GPU while playing the game and noticed a pattern of sorts. Maybe it points to a memory leak, or maybe it means my card is fried, I do not know :P I'm not that computer savvy, but here it is ... maybe someone more knowledgeable can tell me if it means anything:

My GPU is nVidia GeFore 9800M GS, 512 mb
GPU Core Clock is 530 MHz
GPU Memory Clock is 799 MHz
GPU Shader Clock is 1325 MHz

The results below vary slightly, but there is a pattern from the times when I have great fps and when I have little to none (note, I usually do not get 85-90 FPS during the smooth episodes, but somewhere closer to 45-60 ... while I was doing this test, I did though so...haven't tested it with my usual 45-60 yet):

Reading @ 85-90 FPS
528.6 Core Clock
799.2 Memory Clock
1300 Shader Clock
200mb Memory Used
40% GPU Load

Reading @ 85-90 FPS
528.6 Core Clock
799.2 Memory Clock
1300 Shader Clock
189mb Memory Used
47% GPU Load

Reading @ 2-5 FPS
168.8 Core Clock
100 Memory Clock
337.5 Shader Clock
182mb Memory Used
0% GPU Load

Reading @ 4-8 FPS
275 Core Clock
300.9 Memory Clock
550 Shader Clock
180mb Memory Used
0% GPU Load

Reading @ 4-8 FPS
275 Core Clock
300 Memory Clock
550 Shader Clock
212mb Memory Used
0% GPU Load

Reading @ 1-2 FPS
168.8 Core Clock
100 Memory Clock
337.5 Shader Clock
195mb Memory Used
0% GPU Load

Again, I don't know if it means anything (my card is dying? something on server side causing this?), but it's a pattern of lower FPS = lower GPU Clock speeds, and the GPU Load % reading is odd. May or may not be worth looking into by one of you more tech savvy folks. I will appreciate it when this issue gone.

Edited to add DxDiag of my system:

For some reason fps spikes all over the place on imperial/republic space stations (rest area, market, crew skills area etc.). As low as maybe 8 and jumping back up to 30 plus. Typically lasts anywhere from 1-3 seconds.
AMD 2.2Ghz Rated 2.4Ghz (Dual Core)
4GB Ram
500GB Memory
Graphics Card? (Passes requirements)

Im having the same problem.

Chapet, I got a GeForce 9800M GTS in my laptop.

And I have a similar issue - a cycle between 30/40 FPS to about 1 or 2 FPS every few minutes. I've tried new drivers, Game Booster, lowest settings, highest settings, the "high to low settings" trick. And it'll happen whether I just started my computer and start playing or I've been playing all day.

But that cycle between normal FPS to unplayable FPS keeps happening to me too, every few minutes. So I don't think it's our similar cards dying.

So I also have horrible FPS and get the FPS drops, but it's not in buildings.. it's mostly in War Zones. I get like 3fps in Warzones. Should I even bother posting here, or make my own thread? because one of the mods said only post here if you get a drop inside buildings, and being in buildings or not being in them doesn't really effect my performance.. it's just everywhere, and completely and utterly unplayable in war zones.
