I believe they should have introduced guild missions to have people earn this as a group, since it opens up group content.
While they could have made some epic story-line for the guilds to get the ship, that would most likely have taken development time away from all the other content they're introducing over the next couple of months. Simply paying for it instead is a fair trade-off imo. When we're most likely getting more intriquing content for the conquest and Stronghold part of the content, as a pay-off, why would that be the "lazy way"? Compared to other MMO's such as WOW, which have only release a single new raiding tier the last year, we are getting quite alot of new content and features in SWTOR, I feel. (Arena/GSF/New tier/Tactical FPs, not to mention loads of new('ish) armor and weapon through the Cartel market)

Besides there could be allot of difficulty in making an actual quest-line to do it. How would they make a guild-wide quest? Doing an operation or other ops content? Not all guilds are operation focused or even capable, meaning that some could potentially be truely locked out of getting the ship, rather than simply having to take some more time (than average) getting it. How would a small guild, such as yours, ever do the content to get the ship? Or should it simply be a 4-man group able to complete the quest? Last part would rather defeat the entire purpose of it being a guild focussed feature in a MMO, in my opinion. (It is massively multiplayer, not multi-user these days, afterall)

It hinders their access to new content that we have to assume BW actually wants people to play. Why not set the number at 20 or 25mm? That's still significant and leaves room for small guilds to build and expand their ships over time. It would help feel like we're making progress on something. That's not how it feels now. It feels lazy and contrived. Something that is happening all too often in this game now.
I'm going to go ahead and hazard the guess that they came to that number through a variety of calculations and data-extractions, such as:

- Extracting the median value of Guild bank content from the guilds of different servers and compositions
- Basing the number off the average income of players in guild
- Making an educated guess of what would be a realistic value for most guild to achieve within a resonable timeframe
- And probably other means of trying to estimate the guildships credit value

I'd still content that 50 million is not an unreasonable amount for an entire guild to collect over longer period (The price-tag has been out for over a month now, I believe) Even a single 4-man group could fairly easy make 2-3 million credits in a couple of hours of gameplay, so from there to 50 million, there really isn't that far. (And that's just by doing dailies)

Sorry to derail... just occurred to me, we all mention Dulfy at one time or another, and most have it book marked and linked lol.

He gets paid. But I agree, it's crazy that t a 4 person "Community Team" can't keep up with one person who follows multiple games.

So if we disagree were selfish, shortsighted, and fools...?

You know repeating that phrase over and over doesn't make it more true.

Is that your claim? Because I didn't say that at all. Don't imply I did.
