How often have you really had to heal during a tactical? I rarely need to do much healing at all during tacticals, and most of the healing that I do do is to keep it fast rather than to keep people up.
My name is Milind. I checked it again and can confirm you there is no bug with any companion in the game.

Was tanking Mandalorian Raiders with my level 23 tank recently, had a Jedi Sage that was having real fun: aggroing every mob instead of skipping, pulling ahead and so on. I didn't say anything besides the polite "could you please ignore the next group of mobs/etc" which she ignored, so I just quietly put her on ignore in the end. So I would guess that this running and gunning may make you feel like Garrus Vakarian, but it might well end in a group kick and/or a nice position on the ignore list.

An efficiently run FP has a zero death count, by the way.

When you "run and gun", you are typically putting more pressure on your healer. Which can be fun...or extremely stressful.
Typically depends on the healer. Speaking for myself as an absolute whore for heal classes (pretty much all of my characters are healers) I enjoy the run and gun. Much more fun. Enormously more interesting than playing the interface, as it were.

I agree with OP. Run and gun is so awesome. I love not being able to heal myself up after attacking some mobs because we're gunning it!! SO AWESOME, I get to stand there and watch them die and we all get repair bills, because how they do it in operations make no sense and isn't fun!

This I will never understand. Being under level 55 and wanting to skip mobs that give you good XP. What are you in a hurry for? To get back out and continue grinding XP anyway? Enjoy the flashpoint and soak up as much XP from that flashpoint as possible.

I think some people are have different meanings for run & gun.

For me & those I know in general it's when the group knows the fp & is easily more than up to the task of the FP and is able to take down both trash & bosses no fuss, no muss, while taking little damage. When it's a group like that there's no need for a long pause before every trash pull treating it like it's a hard boss fight. It's a matter of pacing. A good strong group can move at a quicker pace than a poorly geared novice group. With the later of course the fp is going to be done at a slower pace while being more focused.

I think it's well-known that flashpoint rewards, xp-wise and reward-wise, give more bonuses than mobs in that flashpoint, and it saves time.

I'm not there for the XP, though - I'd rather my newbie tank and healer levelled as slowly as possible, because I'm learning the mechanics AND I want to prolong the levelling. For me, there's nothing as interesting as levelling, actually - 55 doesn't even cut it close. Been there twelve times, never bothered to buy a t-shirt.

Exactly. An overly anal guy like that would do me a favor putting me on ignore. Just re-enforces my point; I mean, if he's willing to put on ignore someone who's completed just about all the operations on all difficulties because of a difference of opinion on how serious we should take our flashpoints, then I'd likely be the one better off.

As for the healers in my 2 experiences, one said nothing other than thanks for the run, the other was having a blast in Maelstrom and pleased how we kept things moving.

To clarify, its not like we NEVER stopped to self heal in between mob groupings. But we weren't doing it after every single bunch either.

I honestly wish I could have FRAPSed it so people could see how flashpoints could be run.

But my point is less about how the Flashpoint is run, and more about our attitudes about them, how some people are so quick to jump down someone's throat if they do something not expected.

Again, I get it for an OP - that is content designed for that level of precision.

But for Flashpoints, maybe we all need to chill a bit? Not saying not to get frustrated at bad pugs, but maybe not be so demanding that Flashpoints be done with military like precision and lighten up a bit?
I think over all you are right. It's more the attitude on FPs thats needs to be a little more relaxed.

However, in your own example: I don't how Op your toon is, how amazingly OP their AOE is, pulling the entire room is not teaching or showing anything or any player how to do things. In most cases a move like that will wipe a group. It should not normally be done unless the group is really ready for it and since most groups rarely talk, it's not worth the chance of a wipe in a pug.

But overall, yes, FP needs to have a little more relaxed atmosphere. (but Iwill say this too, LI could not be all that relaxed when it first came out. Second boss was a FP killer if you didn't know how to play. Seen too many pug wipes even after the fight was explained.)

It's a fine line.

It is all about having fun.

Sometimes players forget that we are all here to have fun, it is the main and only purpose of a game
