I believe the phrase is "no wipe, no gripe"

I just recently came to this game after playing another MMO for 2 years, one where I'd done the endgame HM stuff hundreds of times to the point it became procedural and not really 'playing' anymore and getting way too uptight about doing things The Right Way all the time. I'm so happy to be a newbie again.

First time I ran Esseles, disabling the tractor beam then escaping into the garbage chute, thinking 'wow now we just need a Sith Lord waiting for us in the hangar,' and then lo and behold my wish is granted (with right music blaring to boot). First time I ran The Foundry and the voice on the loudspeaker calls us a bunch of Meatbags and I get giddy that my favorite psycho is still around. The Battle Of Illum and that Sith Pureblood boss at the end, I remember how much I loathed him on Voss and how incredibly satisfying it was to kill him. And on and on. And I haven't even tried Operations yet (though I figure I better take those at least somewhat more seriously).

In every one of those runs, I made some incredibly newbish mistakes that other-MMO-Me would have just facepalmed over. But SWTOR-Me is giddy as a 6-year-old, mistakes and all, feeling like Luke Skywalker swinging over a reactor shaft, or Boba Fett being a bad***** just by standing there, or Han Solo blasting some fool Rodian (hell yes I shoot first!). Professionalism has its place when you're running some mission for the hundredth time and just want it to be over with, but that joy that you get by being new, and yes making mistakes, really is something to be treasured as long as possible. With this franchise in particular, if you don't have at least some Saturday Matinee in your heart as you go, you're missing out.

This is why I prefer running stuff with PvP'ers (which doesnt happen too often but nevertheless). Everything just becomes more relaxed when people arent used to doing something a certain way - and where, on many occassions, every other way is deemed wrong and/or frowned up. Additionally, the most fun I've had in ops'es has been the outcome of people totally winging it.

The loose and goose style is also the reason I'm excited for Destiny. When you exchange trinity for FPS you're inevitably getting more freedom and I've missed that. You'll still have your FP-esque instances and raids but it's more about controller skills than doing the exact same thing the exact same way every time.

I laughed it off, wished 'em luck, and left.

An hour or so later while on fleet I see two of 'em rambling in general, again going off on how that tactical was impossible with out a tank and healer. Needless to say, they were not happy campers when they were being laughed at by the people in general chat for being idiots and piss poor gamers.

A flashpoint or tac flashpoint is NOT an op, but come ready to do it and not be completely clueless with no willingness to learn how to do it.
There is a difference though between that and what I am talking about.

But Yadira Ban DOES cause a wipe if you don't have the healer focus on the two DPS for 15 seconds during her slam, and the tank not popping a good DCD while ensuring he generates as much threat as humanly possible.

I'd like to know how this went from the healers perspective.

When you "run and gun", you are typically putting more pressure on your healer. Which can be fun...or extremely stressful.

Are you on The Harbinger? If so, can you give me your toon names so I can put you on ignore to ensure I never, ever have to go through the misery of trying to heal you.

For somethings doing a run & gun IS fun and easily doable. Let's face it, for a group with even average gear 55 tacticals are easy peasy and more fun to just blow through for people just doing them for weeklies. And for a group of decent players with decent gear 55 tacs & hm fps are not of a difficulty that requires a precision run as long as everyone is on the same page.

Of course just blowing through those instances that way means knowing what's what. It's very situational. Que'ed with a well equiped group that knows their role and does it well then things can be taken alot more lightly. Que'ed with a group that's under geared & inexperienced? Then it's time to stay focused and tight.

And as one progresses into ops it's a whole different ball of wax where it IS about precision.

Trash in ops is easy...

EV: AVOID THE BEASTS! Use the path which jumps over the lava, it's obvious.

KP: Don't pull them until I've finished reprogramming this cannon!

EC: Stop dying, this is lvl 50 trash!*

TfB: The data cores first! THE DATA CORES!

S&V: INTERRUPT the Final Offers! Get out the AoE!

DF: DON'T OVERLOAD SPAM ON DROIDSQAWSEDRFTGHYUJIKOLPXSDCFVGBHNJMpaymahrepairbill

DP: Keep the Drouks AWAY and heal the OT while you do it!

*I don't have enough experience in EC to comment on this one too well.

See? Easy!

I wouldn't mind as a healer as long as I don't have to burn all my resource (Force, Energy, Heat etc.) on it.

SM or HM????? Cause I remeber two manning (DPS only no comp and no stealth) it without comp at lvl 12 without any mod in our shells (cause hell yes my tons will look good even if it's squishy)
Let me guess... I didn't see the sarcasm??
