Some criticism was warranted IMO....however a few posts stepped over the line in my view. Those folks I would expect know who they are, and their post histories demonstrate constant behavior of the type you have suggested.

It is my hope that those that actually violated forum rules pay for those violations so they can learn some self respect in the process.

I don't think anybody denied there was an issue. It's just that the way of solving it is contacting their CS. I've had poor experience with them as well, so yes the waiting times are horrid. Doesn't change though that that's the right course of action.

My view is that people do need to think before starting a thread here. Ask youself the question what you want to achieve with a thread like this and if it's a realistic expectation. Threads like this belong in the CS forum, just like suggestions belong in the Suggestion Forum. If you then post something like this in general your expectation should be to expect being flamed for 1) posting in the wrong forum and 2) exaggerating.

If I go into a store because I am angry, I go to their customer service desk. I don't go stand in the middle of the store and shout to everybody how crap the store is....but I guess that's just me.

Yea, I should have pointed out the CS forum as well. This would have been better served in either the CS or tech support forum. It is a bit silly to post it in general chat. It's also a bit silly to be overly dramatic in the thread title.

That does not diminish the fact, IMO, that some folks decided to go overboard and break forum rules in response. And for that they should be ashamed of themselves IMO. Im fine with a bit of snark....I enjoy reading snark from time to time, and even engage in it myself. But there is never a reason to break forum rules and thereby demonstrate a lack of self respect.

...especially for something as silly as this.

I live in Sweden, so I count as one of those who "live in another country". But I'd still not be forced to pay obscene amounts of money in phone bills since you can use skype to contact them, which costs nothing.
And I've spent hours on end waiting for customer support in all kinds of games and services so i know what a drag it is to do that. But I also know that those are the only ones that can resolve account issues for you.
I wouldn't go on the open forums of my bank and ask if someone could help me close my account. That'd be moronic. Just like going on the forums of this game asking if anyone could cancel his sub. Because that's basically what he's doing.
And he didn't try and contact CS, as he himself states that:

I will tell you one thing. I didn't see anything really untoward untill the OP himself at the bottom of page 2 started name calling (bantha fodder). So in my view it's his own fault the thread went that direction.

Dial down the drama. If you contact Customer Support they can help you. Some people have reported this problem in the past, but after a bit of time the problem seemed to work it's way out...this is also not the forum for this problem. This should be in the technical support forum.

That is a response that both demonstrates self respect and admonishes the OP for being a bit over dramatic about it.
I hope you are fully aware that I (and others) have responded exactly that calmly and politely in the past and still got all the **** we get now.
In the end I just stopped caring. If someone is throwing a hissyfit on the forums about something that has an obvious answer, I no longer take the calm and collected approach, but instead I just speak my mind.
Because I'm gonna be accused of being a biodrone, defender, whiteknight or worse anyway.
So why be polite to people when you just get treated like dirt every time?

I get what you guys are saying naturally, but I would contend the following...the OP should pay for any violation they committed, and hopefully will do so, and I hear what you are saying OEE, but you know better. You were baited. And yes, you have been baited before but gave it the right response.

This time, IMO you didn't. Naturally you don't need my approval or permission to post what you want, but never the less it is a demonstration of a lack of self respect to get baited into breaking the forum rules.

You choose to remain within the forum rules because you have self respect. You do not stoop to the same level. That is the reason. I get baited all the time. I respond in kind....but I endeavor to avoid breaking the forum rules in the process. I do not allow myself to get baited.
