Or if my Trooper is using my BH as a Companion, I want to hear my BH growl, "Now you're ugly and dead!" ... just like Corso would.

A friend's character as my sidekick? No thank you. The equipment issues alone are a tough hurdle to clear. Can I equip my new "Companion"? If so, can I remove his current gear? If so, can I remove mods from his current gear? If so, in what condition is he returned to his true owner? Or does the Companion arrive and leave nekkid? And I really don't see the point of using someone else's character. It's not the same as actually playing with the other player. Which begs another question: Can the Companion improve through play? Can I "borrow" a friend's level 40 Sniper and return him at level 42? Could this idea be corrupted into power-leveling?

TL;DR: My alts as comps = good; friends' characters as comps = bad.
You would not borrow character. You would be able to have friend companion out and friend it's based on next to you. Yes it's creepy but not any creepier than all those kira clones on fleet. If you would copy your lvl 32 friend to comp as your lvl 55 toon result would be lvl 55 companion. Gear isn't copied either, one has to equip his friend comp himself. Sure this brings problems like it's possible to harass by equipping friend companion to bikini but thats why agreement is needed. You would not be able to level for someone else, even if you did 1000 kills with friend companion it's original model won't get any XP.

It would be SOOOOO cool if I could get my alt-toons to go out on missions with my logged on toon. Guild wars has that.

Sorry OP but that's closer to a wet dream than a possibility.

Seen this request so many times that I don't count it anymore.
And the only thing close enough to an answer was something along companions are very much tied to character's story i.e. no changes even no companions roles kits because they are designed as is.

Erm, I mean, an interesting suggestion, the likes of which I have not heard in quite some time. Perhaps this time they'll do it.
Took me a second to figure out why I knew that speech already... well done. :-)

I love this idea. It would add further depth to the Roleplay experience. Something like this would see me never wanting to play any other game ever again.

I also agree with the player who mentioned that the Family Tree needs something to make it more interesting. If you've ever played Champion's Online, they've got an interesting mechanic where you'd be able to create your own nemesis who appeared in some of your missions and would randomly send his minions to kick your ***.

I can see some real opportunity to add some real depth to the whole legacy system by having these relationships actually impact the gameplay in some way. I can see it shaking out in a very meaningful way:

* Your alts as companions
* Your character's nemesis Alts could appear in randomized solo/scalable instances where you have to thwart them in some way. Perhaps a new type of daily quests could open up involving your family tree
* Tactical Flashpoint(s) where you and your team must contend with all of your Nemesis characters and/or aid your family and friends
* Perhaps a "Build a Mission" system akin to NWN/CoH where you can leverage your own characters in player created content?

I think the long and short of it is that the Legacy Family Tree is under utilized and with some clever programming, could really improve the game in a meaningful way that the player could actually contribute something to the content.

Yeah, I think the family tree was a good idea that had some real potential. I bet someone, way back in the day, saw this as something that would be meaningful in game, somehow. As it is, there is no point to it even being there. I can just use my imagination to connect the dots on my legacy. All it's doing now is taking up resources in the game.

It would be fantastic to utilize this in some way. Make it matter if my characters are married or enemies or whatever. I like the idea of a legacy daily or weekly. But it should be something that involves multiple characters rather than just making you run some dumb mission 10 times.

Because you know that's what they would do...

I feel the same way. My loyalty to this game would sky rocket if the legacy system was expanded to offer definable and gameplay-affecting relationships between my alts. My WoW money would go straight to SWTOR.

I heard someone mention that if they allowed us to use our alts as companions, it would render all of our NPC companions totally obsolete. Because our characters are much stronger than our sidekicks...for example, we can equip relics but they cannot. So nobody would ever summon NPC companions and always use alts as companions.

Simple solution to this problem: raise the limit on the number of summonable companions. Allow us to summon both an NPC companion and an alt companion at the same time (but not 2 NPCs or 2 alts, just 1 of each). This solution is very appealing to me, as it would allow players to do solo using the traditional tank-healer-dps holy trinity.

But so what if we don't summon them? Each of my characters just has one main companion that I use. I'd only summon a different one if the story forced me to. So, I'm already not using them.

Obviously, BW could nerf our alts when we summoned them as comps. To avoid any story issues, this could be a lvl 55-only ability, so we could use them to run dailies or whatever. Or if they build a story/mission around it, as mentioned in other posts.

I don't think we need to have two comps out at a time. We'd all roll straight through the game with no issues. We could even, in theory, do 2-player runs through FPs in that case. But, as a start, I'd settle for being able to summon a companion and then summon an alt as a pet. Just to remind me that they're there.

This, or as I suggested above these friend comps would have simplified toolset of their original models so they would be "nerfed" to level of regular companions. They wouldn't either be able to equip relics. My suggestion isn't anything world changing gameplay wise, more like cosmetic feature and my suggestion to make legacy tree more meaningful.
Also I personally would love to side with my friends toon even when she is offline. This would also decrease "clone syndrome" of similar companions on fleet. Just my two cents, and I love to hear your opinions about it, thx all ^^
I didn't think about roleplayers when originally wrote suggestion but if this would benefit them too even better!
Thx for feedback ^^
