You know why I used to be there? Because I pay attention to what I buy and for how much ^^

Anyone who chooses a vehicle because it's rarer and not because of its aesthetic and technical merits has a screw loose. Unless you're as rich as Jay Leno and don't drive so much as collect. Say what you like, modern Hyundais are attractive cars sold at cheap prices, and I see more American cars broken down on the highway than both Kias or Hyundais.

People that conflate rarity with value confuse me. The walker is pretty dreadful but it's rarity makes it desirable? In that case, I have loads of valuable dog poop - it's the only stuff in the world that came from my dog! No dog poop quite like it, and there's nowhere else you can get it.

Sort of like diamonds... I really can't fathom why they're so expensive. They're shiny damn rocks that don't do anything. Sure, they look a tiny smidgen different than cut crystal or glass, but the difference is miniscule while the price gap is astronomical. I've seen horrifically ugly jewelry made with diamonds and very attractive and elegant jewelry made with crystal or CZ. But despite the nearly absolute equality in consumer applications, people are willing to shell out boatloads for some compressed coal that came from the ground... my mind, boggled it is.

The walker is awesome because it's a walker, not because it costs a fortune and is crazy rare. It's a thing you scare the damn rebels with, a symbol of a good Imperial, and it's got a cool jumping animation to boot.

Which means that, yes, I bought and unlocked a walker yesterday. 15 mil, after a week of GTN hounding. The average price was still about 24 mil on Red Eclipse, and the Progenitor was pretty much empty in this department.

(I don't drive cars in real life, btw. Actually, I wish we had bicycles and speed trams instead in RL. Nobody really follows the traffic regulation in the city where I live, so each time I cross the road on my way to work, I get a scare. Sigh).

Yeah, I don't view it as a status symbol. It is a Walker and part and parcel of the SW movies. As such... I love the idea of having my own to tool around in. And... Walkers have never really been great looking things and certainly in terms of real life engineering make little sense as a war machine.

But... for those of who saw them for the first time in the original movies, they were memorable and iconic. I want one. If there are more later, with a different look and style, I will want one of those too. I'll pay 15 mil but not much more than that for this one.

Hah... I was the first one in the world to discover it. I spent my last savings on that hilt and I just thought "it would be so cool if I could..." and i just hovered my mouse with r/e icon over it... "***, 20% chance?" But several months later i was the one spamming CS with mail about it and the only thing they did was ruining end-game crafting entirely...
