Not sure if this has been mentioned since I don't feel like going through 3 pages of posts but, I think a insta-level boost would work so long as it had a "Legacy Level 50" requirement on it. It would likely have a fairly hefty CC cost (2000) to go along with it.

Well if BioWare do incorporate this into SWTOR , I for one would leave and I'm sure many others would too. Blizzard are basically strangling their game by doing one of the most stupid things that I have ever heard about in the MMO industry , even more stupid that Archage charging $150 to play an alpha of an old game. It will be quite epic when their expansion comes out , WOW , that is. "Party forming , who wants in ?" , checks items , "Sorry we only want veterans in the group not level 90 noobs". Lots of arguments.

Anyways , one of the main points of playing an MMO is the journey and the feeling of accomplishing something. I will quote my brother after I told him about said expansion and the free level 90 character. "It's like saying you can run this marathon for free , but if you pay us a certain amount of cash , then you can start the race a few feet from the finishing line".

As people have said the only WOW killer will be WOW itself. The game is going to be a lot more empty a few weeks after the new expansion.

TL;DR Do not sell level 50 or 55 character tokens in this game , ever.

Cheers,

BadOrb.

In your opinion. Not mine. I'd be all for this.

I could see wanting to skip PvE stuff if you are only interested in PvP, but lowbie PvP will level you up quite fast anyways. But if you are planning on skipping leveling to do endgame PvE.. you are just shooting yourself in the head. Once your badly geared and inexperienced instant max-level toon gets on enough ignore lists because you are badly geared and inexperienced, you essentially lock yourself out of any LFG PvE group content.

However, I will support this on one condition. My ignore list will apply account-wide both ways (if I ignore one of your characters, I ignore all of your characters on all of my characters instantly). Because people that would do this, I don't want to be randomly grouped with.. ever. It's too much of a crapshoot, and I'm out of patience.

I have mixed feelings about this. WoW solved the issue of "can't play their character" by introducing proving grounds and rating requirement from thereof to do anything above storymode content and honestly? TOR could use something similar with or without boost to level 50 or 55 or whatever. so learning to play is not why I'm not sold on this idea. plenty of people out there who don't have any clue what they are doing with or without selling tokens.

I don't like it, because leveling content is SWTOR's crown jewel and allowing people to buy their way past it is pretty much saying... "yeah, all that content we worked so hard on? we don't much care for it, or whether people get to experience it"

not to mention... unlike most other games where how you level a character doesn't matter, because there's nothing lasting that comes from leveling content to speak of... personal story and companions ARE tied to questing and actualy.. doing the content.
I might be ambivalent about lvl up tokens, but people are asking to be given companions and essentially completed story and THIS is what I'm very much against. the only compromise that I would find fair is:
1.. you need to have at least finished Dromund Kaas/Coruscant - personal story. it only takes a few hours of game time to finish prologue, you can do THAT much.
2. you are NOT given all the companions you'd normally get (and story is NOT automatically finished for you). if you want your story's companions? you have to do the story. but crafting you say? well.. they could sell copies of c2n2 for people who need crafting bots, but don't want to quest for the ones that come with perks and conversations and roles. and no. not give them out - sell them, I'd say... 300k per bot would be reasonable? still accessible to preferred players even.

I think he thinks he is once in a while. Or Patton. Maybe a mix of both with some Riddick sprinkled in for good measure.

But I will say one thing though...he designs some of the best Star Trek starships I have ever seen in my life.

With all the Legacy XP perks, XP boosts, rested XP, guild XP bonus, and Double XP weekends, it is extremely easy to level up to 55. In fact, if you do it right, you can reach 55 in under 24 hours (a day) during a 2XP weekend (some proof). That is crazy fast.
Yea, it is crazy fast, for people who have nothing else to do.

Might I suggest that if it is possible to upgrade that fast, that perhaps you might as well get a token for a lvl 50 toon from the CM and be done with it?

Leveling to 55 in a day doesn't teach you the class, or the rotations, or anything else.

Perhaps restrict it to only offering a lvl 50 toon (not 55, but 50, so you do have the play the last 5 levels) only for classes that you've already reached 50 on. That strikes me as reasonable.
