I guess it's mostly a maturity and a respect for others that it would be nice to see more names without the vulgarity in them. I mean there is no reason to air dirty laundry all over a community unless your trying to get a spot on the Jerry Springer show. I grew up with a notion called respect for others and respect for myself. It would be nice to see some decency when choosing a name, a joke is a joke, but there is a time and place for it....

I'd instead say people making characters with very offensive or out-there names on an RP server often do it in order to troll the RPrs. I've seen this type of behavior on RP servers in that other MMO. Someone named something incredibly rude (or damn silly) starts spamming general chat, trying to get a rise out of people. IMO there's no reason to make a character creatively misspelled to make out "lick my female genitals" unless you want to irritate others.

When someone has a name of "AIDSISADOT" on the Bastion server, which I play, it really hurts when I see them talking in chat (regardless of what their saying) because it reminds me that I'm unfortunately HIV+ and almost died from AIDS a few years back. I play the game to get away from my torturous life and don't need to be reminded of it in something that is supposed to distract me from it.

Any G.I.R.L. hard up enough to name their female Operative Buttseks immediately goes on my ignore list anyway.
Can we please just have our pre-KotFE SWTOR MMORPG back?

BioWare didn't think the chatfilter through very well. Apart from Saturday and Sharpshooter and Arsenal, there's

Meltwater Republic Outpost (on Belsavis)

Which you cannot say in chat without the first word being filtered.

see that's what I was talking about before, I need examples of these names so I can judge accordingly.
and I gotta say, that one is clever, like anyother name like that I encounter in a group or wz. I'd just go "ha funny" and then go about the thing that's going on. I usually and unfortunately forget about such clever names like that right away, sucks when I want to mention good names I see in pvp to others later on.

My beloved cat that I found, took in, and took care of for 7 years died of some illness recently, and very painfully, it was sad. it was the second most thing I loved in life.
But if someone had a name of 'catsoffmahtires' I wounded turn into some kungT about it.

What bothers me most is when the devs make no effort to Google the names they give their NPC's. Then we end up having one named "Arkan" during the BBA event.
One I ran across was Mao and a few weeks ago Stalin something. I guess they never heard of the Great Leap Forward or Holodomar.

Perhaps it is something in most men's makeup, that we deal with things differently, but, I bet you don't even recognize the degree of crap that women put up with. On a daily basis. You think, 'ha ha ha,' what a dumb name. /ignore! That girl though ... well, she may have a slightly different outlook based on how much s**t she dealt with that day.

Disagree all you want, but you may want to look at it from more than just a male's POV.

Also: having a daughter will (at least should) change your opinion on our world.
what are you talking about what 'crap' women put up with? that is kind of a broad word. people put up with a certain level of crap based on their individual situation and is not limited to any particular group. not all women suffer sexism, and btw immature guys joking about body parts is not sexism if that happens to be what you might think.

if you are referring to a bodily thing then that is their own little 'happening' that they go through with. why can't guys joke about that misfortune among themselves, it's their own conversation.

that is a baaaaad name that hurts other people, i don't think that should be allowed. even with immature vulgar stuff there is a limit, but if a name doesn't make a person want to die like that then why not?

i am imagining something like "SUCKSVAGINALFLUID" or something along those lines. sure, it is quite unpleasant to see but it doesn't make someone with HIV or cancer feel horrible.
