Opt-out of DOUBLE XP

I've already played all the planetary quests several times on both sides. I'm good with double XP because then I just need to see the main storyline to level.

I mean how many times do you want to kill the same K'or'slugs and Rakghouls in the same missions to experience it. Pretty much I've done all the quests lightside and Darkside for both Imp and Pub, and now working through all the storylines, Light and Dark.

Unless someone hi-jacked the thread, no one is asking to get rid of double xp. :P
Just to let them "decline" it for their characters, and to let them earn normal xp instead.
Thanks for showing us you listen to our feedback, Bioware!

I think it would be great if you could have a toggle to not get the extra xp. I don't want to see where we don't have them any more or have to paid for them.

There's actually a really simple workaround glitch for this.

1. Enter combat
2. Go to a "save" distance (that's really optional though)
3. Close the game while still in combat (and by this I mean alt tabbing and closing it manually)
4. Log back in

This will disable the double XP feature on this particular character for the current session.

I'm going to favorite that so I can echo it whenever I feel the need to post a CapitalOne commercial. Nice find!

Because part of having a forum to discuss things related to a game is making suggestions based on a player's preferences for improving the gaming experience for said player (and those that have the same preferences/opinions of that player). I am not complaining about Double XP. I have been simply explaining what I do not like about the lack of a normal UI ability to turn Double XP off so I can continue playing the game in the manner I most enjoy. Now, while I do not believe in the mythical "MMO Standard" that other players love to toss about, there are certainly more than enough examples out there to show that having the ability to toggle XP gain is not uncommon.

I continue to participate in discussions like this, because in the end, I would rather be playing SWTOR more often than less often. Therefore, I will continue to explain my position and support adding some ability to the game, whatever form it takes, to allow players to have the option to toggle of the additional experience. Personally speaking, I wouldn't care if they implemented Double XP on a permanent basis, as long as there was a way to turn it off.

Awesome Sauce! Nice catch. It appears to work. I'll have to test it out further to see for certain, but at least it is the most viable workaround at the moment it seems.

Fantastic.

Another reason why if the double XP was a buff it would make it easy for folks to opt out....they could simply right click on it to dispel it during the session.

Hopefully more folks report this works. I did notice, after crashing a few times that when I came back I did NOT get double XP. Now I know why.

Wow...nice! Thanks for posting that. It appears to work - the double xp thing no longer shows up by my xp bar, anyway, and instead it says I'm rested. I didn't verify it in terms of how much xp I'm getting for things, though, but maybe other people will.

Wish I would have known about this last Tuesday. Oh well, I'll use it next time around. For now, I've spent the week checking out other games that I've never tried before...(which I wouldn't have done, except that I wasn't playing this game due to double xp). Most were awful, but I found one I like, and spent some money on it that otherwise would have gone to SWTOR. And I'm kinda in a groove with that now, so even with this trick I don't think I'll jump back to this game just yet.

Actually, upon further testing the only difference is that the double xp bar is missing. You still get 2xp and no rested xp. It was pretty exciting for a bit though. Thanks for the effort.
