Power-leveling via KDY okay, but I don't really see the point of double XP for a char you actually want to play the story with, you are overpowered on the beginner planets get no XP on 1 or 2 planets thereafter, and stop getting XP close to the end of all following planets, unless you skip most side quests and bonus series.

So Bioware and parts of the playerbase consider the ability to skip parts of the story a gift? In the showpiece of story-based MMOs? From the company that once single-handedly revived story-based CRPGs?

Well, that's fine I guess, but how about giving that gift only to those who can appreciate it?
People appreciate choice, and 2xp alsmo hurts RP because people end up with a poor understanding of the lore. As you mentioned it should be for people who want it, and so it should be OPT-IN instead of OPT-OUT.

Wow, people really do complain about everything and anything. It's sad that such a great game is ruined because of the way this community is managed, or not managed.

I would wish i could have a toggle too but i know im in the minority so i have to suck it up and just play my main but i think 2xp for a whole week is excessive. If players like it though and it keeps some people playing then im not against it

That yellow statement is quite true. However, the dramatically increased number of online players during 2XP timeframes does indicate it's wildly popular, right?

I think the point of double XP is to help the F2P noobs who are almost always horrible under-leveled for most zones, at least the ones I've encountered.

Yeah and they probably make up the majority which TH C is so intent on putting on a pedestal. Didnt realize f2p got this too before..

yes, it really is that easy!
All the devs need to do is add a checkbox to the preferences screen and then add this line of code to the MMO:

IF MagicCheckBox = True
THEN XPRate = 1
ELSE XPRate = 2

Problem solved!
Devs, feel free co copy/paste my code into the game.

You're welcome.

I've been requesting the ability to opt out ever since double xp first arrived on swtor because I knew it would come back and in force. In fact it is still getting worse as double xp events are arriving more frequently and now last longer too. All that was fine and dandy except that you can't get away from it even if you are f2p! You just can't win!

Please read some of the previous responses in this thread. We are not attacking double xp. I support it. It makes sense. I am not attacking swtor. I am not complaining about everything or even anything else. I just want to be able to politely bow out of double xp events when they take place. Apparently those that make the request to bow out of double xp are ruining swtor for everyone else and should have their posts deleted and be banned in some way from swtor or at least punished.

It is just a simple request that will not ruin the game for everyone else despite objections to the contrary.

The point of double xp is to get more people to log into the game during specific time periods. Sometimes it coincides with the release of new MMO's or expansions to MMO's. Sometimes it coincides with the time period for which EA intends to count attendance for reporting.

But that's the goal - get more people to log in during that timeframe.

And that's exactly what it accomplishes.
