What I'm looking forward to most is legacy storage. I would like to consolidate all my cargo holds, and not have to switch from one character to the other constantly. Also interested in guild ships, having recently joined a couple. Would be nice to meet my fellow members perhaps.
Shared storage is the biggest reason I bought a house for my characters in LotRO (the only kind of shared storage you can get in LotRO without spending store cash).

I think we're getting no details yet because you're right OP. It's going to be lame lotro style peg systems I bet.

The addition of housing is welcome by alot of players and has been sought after for quite a while.

They also explained why they couldn't do it on the ships because so many cutscenes take place there and it would be too restrictive because of all the camera angles in those cutscenes.
Which is all well and good. However, for what I'm interested in in housing in general, they could have made the cargo hold looking container in my quarters Legacy storage, and been good. As to the rest, I didn't join a SW game thinking "yay, I'll be able to have my own house". I joined thinking "Yay, it's a BioWare game, so it'll have a story driven leveling experience, with good stories behind it". Nothing that I say or think about housing is going to effect it. It's coming, whether I thought it's needed or not. I don't think it's needed, since we've basically had it since launch.

I have a GTN terminal, a repair droid and a mailbox on all my ships already, adding one more storage doesn't appear to be that hard, since they can tuck in an out of the way corner, my personal quarters, which, oddly enough, isn't used for much of anything at all, barring one class story cutscene on my Inquisitor. As to the epeen displays of pets and what have you? I don't even summon the pets I do own, for any reason. They are less than useless for anything other than cosmetic appeal, and frankly, that's not going to help me get through a FP/Op, or planetary mission, so why bother. I never did get the Pokιmon idea of "gotta get them all", but they do help finance the game, so more power to those that want 'em. I neither need or want to display them in my house, or on my ship. So, as far as I'm concerned, they are doing it wrong. I appreciate that you think my thinking epeen catering is dumb, I just don't share your opinion, since I think it's a waste of resources that could have been better spent elsewhere.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Really, I am. What I've read and heard about housing in SWTOR sounds suspiciously like LOTRO's housing, with a few tweaks. But then we have Eric saying it'll be nothing like any MMO's housing out there, and that goes the complete other way.

If they don't show anything this week I'm going to worry. Early acces was supposed to be tomorrow. (Unless, of course, I'm totally not remembering it right.)

I too am trying to remain VERY grounded on what I expect from housing. Eric saying that one line is one of the few reasons I have some serious hope...

I wonder if it may be like a combination of SWG's system and lotros? In SWG, anything, anywhere...LOTRO was pegs - 1 small floor item here, 1 large wall item here. A hybrid of the two would be like "floor items" (rug, couch, stand) need to stay on the floor, but anywhere on the floor...something like this would be fine imo.

I could definitely live with that.

Sounds good to me. I wouldn't mind a sandboxy environment where I could put a mailbox on the ceiling just for kicks or an outdoor plot where I could stack things really high, but a hybrid system would be fine as well. I hope you can duel inside your apartment, change the lighting, color scheme, ambient music etc.

The main thing for me is being able to consolidate all the random gear I have. It would be easier to know what items I need to complete sets if I could access all the stuff at once.

I'm with you OP. I have the same concerns. If i wont be able to make my house into a Forest with my lightsabers on the wall then it would tip me off the game.. after 2 years.

For most it may sound ridiculous but not for me. Its really really important to let me further enjoy that game.

But i really cant believe BW would do that. Every sane person should know by now that themepark mmos are on the downfall and everyone want now sandbox elements. Real sandbox. Because in the end ... thats what a mmo is really all about.

And thats also a reason for me to abandon swtor if they do a static **** housing system. I would lose my faith in BW to do the right thing.

Everyone doesn't want sandbox, per se, just some level of flexibility with more to enjoy regularly. There's not enough variety in SW when events aren't active. That certainly is an issue, but just having a ton of sandbox features wouldn't be the magic fix for everyone. Games like that generally require much more investment to enjoy, and don't have a big blend of casuals, they cater to a small group of loyal players, hence EvE being what it is. This game would do well to implement both, but I won't be leaving or staying based on housing by any means.

I may even do something outrageous and sub to two games at once, but we'll just have to see.
