Ninja looters are truely the oldest MMORPG Profession. However, I only quoted you because I thought it was amusing that you referenced ninjas as being present from day one but mentioned a bunch of 2nd & 3rd generation MMOs. Ninjas were in Asheron's Call and Everquest (Ultima Online and Meridian 59 were before my time playing graphical MMO's) as well as MUDs before them.

Like others have said it isn't just F2Ps who do so, most of them probably only need on things for themselves. Some may need for their companions, but its probably a smaller percentage than even those who just blanket need. The most likely reason it may seem that F2Ps do it more often, is that they (when combined with preferred) outnumber subs. Even if they have the same overall percentage of people who always need when compared to subs, it will just seem like a bigger deal because there are more of them overall.

That said, I've only run into a couple people who need on everything, and all three of them were during Esseles/ Black Talon. It has not yet been a problem for me at all beyond the very first FP on both sides.

Hear me out. I started out a Free 2 Play member. And once I figured out I liked this game, I bought $4.99 worth of Cartel Coins which bumped me up to preferred. After doing this couple times, and dedicating more time and effort to my enjoyment of this game, I decided to subscribe.

I, like many, are not rich. $4.99 to get some coins and the bump up is a couple Mt Dews (which is a horrible thing anyway). Even the subscription fee isn't that bad considering some of the other "habits" I have and what is offered to you as a subscriber.

More and more I see F2P members using unethical game-play. Im not crying, Im not complaining. I am stating an observation.

Flashpoints: NEEDING on EVERY drop.
(Im free-2-play so it doesn't matter - I need it because i can sell it for credits - My companion needs it -I dont care)

Missions: Running behind you and grabbing something that you're obviously in a battle to get
(It will re-spawn - Im too stupid to realize that I would have to be fighting those guys to get that item - My character is an ******e so I have to be like my character - I don't care)

Does somebody have _____ credits I can "borrow"
(I dont have time to earn my own - i used up my guild allowance - I dont care)
Come on, you dont have time really? You have time to play the game but only certain parts of it?

Again, maybe many of you have had to deal with selfish game-play by subs, preferred, etc. and I'm beginning to become prejudice. But I haven't really noticed subs doing so. We have invested in our game-play. It seems like F2P are just out for FREE FREE FREE TAKE TAKE TAKE.

My philosophy has changed over time playing this game. F2P is great to get the feel of the game and to see if it's something you want to commit to and then sign up and enjoy the full power of the dark...err game.

Maybe I shouldn't group all of the F2P like that. It just seems that way to me. Maybe take notice some time.

Anybody have any opinions on this? Is it just a part of MMO?
Not a single thing you listed is unique or even more common among F2P players. All of these behaviors have been around as long as MMOs have existed. Frankly, your post simply comes across as subscriber snobbery.

Hell, I remember players like this back in my table-top paper-based D&D games. It was only the threat of real physical violence that kept most of them from being more douchy about their thievery and selfish behavior in-game.

It's not a F2P issue, it's a people issue.
True because it's always people doing it but you like so many others are missing the broader picture.

The anonymous nature of the internet brings enough stupid people and jerks to online gaming as it is. But you let them join in anything without a cover charge and the jerks will flock to it like flies to poop.

The MMO genre has greatly degraded since the big 3 (DAoC, EQ, AC). Why? Because MMOs used to be hard and the majority of jerks are not willing to put time or effort into something constructive.

Making MMOs easy mode and making them free to play opens the flood gates for jerks. There's no 2 ways about it.

60 bucks up front and 15 bucks a month simply turns away the selfish freeloader type far more FREQUENTLY than F2P. That's the nature of the beast.

Your major assumption..an incorrect one, at that...is that jerks aren't willing to put time/effort into their douchy behavior.

Anyone who has ever played through EQ or Vanilla WoW knows that trolls/jerks aren't afraid of hard MMOs.

All the things OP mentioned, i see subscribers do it all the time. i am now at 55 endgame and no f2p can ever run 55 endgame fp or ops or do 55 endgame dailies. even creds begging, there is a certain person on JC who starts begging on IMP side 1st and then after 1 hour he goes to Rep side and begs there, this rotation continues as long as that guy is online and he is a subscriber not f2p. i see level 55 subscribers do those things you mention all the time, don't just blatantly blame f2p for every negative thing you see in game. Problem here is that this f2p model is a bait for total idiots, common senseless morons. EAWare wants to annoy people into subscribing, what do you expect from a subscriber who subscribed because he was annoyed? or a moron who subscribed "because i needed more quick bar" or "i subscribed because i wanted to unify my armor color". everyday i ignore at least 2 players because of ninja looting and then saying "i have a need button so i need, i do whatever i want, i pay for the game, why should i do as you want me to do?". this is what we get when EAWare bait idiots into subscribing.

Also you forget just how many Soldiers play this game, and not everyone of them can pay supscription fees.. some of them F2P while they are overseas. So dont start thinking that ALL F2P players are somehow greedy little kids.

You sound to have had bad experience with F2P players, I get that... Everyone has had to deal with players that are jerks. But to generalize all of them as greedy kids, what you do is alienate and create a mindset that may cause you to become just a big a problem as those kids that made you mad. You will treat other players baddly all because of their way of paying for the game and not them themselves or their actions. You will end up making what might be good players or fun people ticked off and or disheartned that there is no one to help them and that the only people they meet or rude and dislike them because they are unable to subscribe.

This is an issue I have heard while in the game talking to F2P players as they are in starting worlds. Some great people I have met were upset that they couldnt find any real help and the people they had met had been rude to them just because they were F2P. I have met just as many subscribers who are jerks.. and who do things people blame F2P players for. Dont overgeneralize!
You still dont get it

If yuo CAN afford to waste 20+ hours in month playing MMO, you can also afford to pay subscribtion fee. Simple.
And dont give me BS about ppl who, play F2P a lot becouse they cannot afford becouse of their family problem unemployment etc.
If you have money problems you shouldnt waste your tame playign games to start with ! Go out and work for the money ! If you spend 40 hours in month on MMO jsut spend 5 of them doing small jobs and earn those 8$ ! OR dont eat sweets / drink vodka / smoke cigs ...

Its simple !

You want to play for a month or 2 then quit -> dont sub at all. But dont even bother with End game.
You decided you like the game enough to spend here more of your time - go sub - otherwise you are missing out on game.
You dont have the money for sub ? - > go out and make money !
You cant go out and make money ? - > quit playing games and get a hold on your life.

see now ?

Staying F2P after finishing story is just an example of greedy and selfish thinking in itself
- "Give me stuff for free, I dont want to pay, and I dont intend to work for my money, but I still want to have everythign free ! "

Been a F2P for two years and not complaining or whining. I take those f2p restrictions as an added challenge to the gameplay. Besides if I grind enough credits I can get most of the unlocks off GTN. Maybe I like the game enough to dedicate my time playing the game and farming, working to achieve what I want and the feeling of satisfaction would be more. I can only afford one subscription and that belongs to my brother who I am paying for his sub now. I'm Preffered. Using my bro's account to post on forums.

I have befriended a lot of F2P players, and all of them are decent players. Some of them are decent PvPers. Some of them even swing NiM ops like a breeze. Just pay those passes with credits and we can still enjoy the game. Not every f2p are cheapskates. In some countries dollars are worth a lot more than their currency, and believe it or not there are people who own a laptop and internet but that's all they have. I would sub if I have more money but I also have RL stuff I need to pay for.

I get a lot of discrimination from genchat (subs to general f2p players) and people who I PUG with. "How can you live with being f2p??? Gosh" Still not complaining here, just enjoying the game.

Wow I wished I lived in your utopian wonderland.

Anyways, I have to agree with the majority of posters in saying that it's just as likely to be subscribers behaving poorly.
