Do on-level (yellow, orange) quests only. You won't get experience for NPC kills but you'll still get double normal experience for the quest turn-ins which, in this game, is the majority of the experience is anyway.

There actually was a post that outlined the method. It is not for the faint of heart. Try searching for it. I think it wa entitled 'how to prepare to double XP' or something like that. It involved a fairly extensive prep and investment in a training statue and gear from 1 to 50 and things. But I prefer to use the 2xXP to build the fresh characters, to avoid the horrors of the Capital World+Taris and skip some of those repeat quests.

Space dailies on a 2xp weekend will just about give you 1 level and takes less than an hour and grind KDY and planet missions, stay away from class story missions they take to long at higher levels. Guild bonus helps also.
