I tend to take the mick out of beggars by pointing out that the time they had spent hanging about whining would have netted them a couple of grand if they'd used that time doing missions/warzones.
I do NOT mind though if there's a low level who is behind on gear and wants a hand in flashpoints (especially some of the mid level/ 50 ones as they hardly ever pop). In these cases I am happy to walk them through, and let them keep all the drops. It actually benefits me cos I can get a bit of affection/social/ gathering while I am at it.

Someone whispered me asking for 50k credits. I whispered back that needed 70 units of aluminum and if they got it for me I'd pay them 50k credits.

The discussion turned to crew skills, where to collect aluminum and other credit making opportunities.

I use this quite a bit. The people who say something along the lines of "I don't want to do nuthin'" get placed on my ignore list. Sadly, they are the majority. But the others are often new players who don't have a clue about making credits. One, an apparently young kid, told his father about the exchange and being a good father made sure I wasn't a creeper of some sort and actually thanked me for giving his kid a lesson in earning ones way in the world.

It's easy to dismiss beggars. Don't assume they are begging because they are lazy.

Let's see, so far we've had the following beggar categories mentioned:
  • Clueless innocents
  • Lazy n'er do wells
  • Role Players

Unless I've missed a post, and sorry if such is the case, there is another category -- scamming beggars who can make more off well-intentioned players than most of us can earn in a comparable period. I posit there are far more of these lurking about than all others combined, at least that's my experience from other MMOs I've played.

Yeah, they exist. They can be easy to spot...though for the life of me I can not understand why anyone would simply give credits to another player without getting something in return.

What a dumb way to get on a lot of /ignored lists thereby hurting their chances for groups later.
lol, that one on Jedi Covenant is pretty bad.
But what is worse is people giving him all the attention (perhaps even credits)
I have his toons all on ignore, but I step in on fleet and I see people commenting about "50k creds" or "you should go dailies like everybody else" I know they're all talking about him. It seems people can't help themselves and feed him.

Since when did begging for credits become the current in-fashion thing to do? Who actually gives them anything?

At least I can do two reports, one for spam, and another for inappropriate player behavior. I wonder if I could do a third one as harassment.

One of the multi-toon credit beggars claims to not be breaking any rules regarding spam cuz they change the words around a little each time. Sometimes it's "someone give me 50k, im a broke noob." Other times it's "someone give me 50k for my guild fee." And so on and so forth.
Those beggars you believe are worse than the farmers? Probably ARE the farmers. It's a common tactic to panhandle for cash from idiots to turn around and sell to bigger idiots. -bp

Are you people seriously complaining about some trolls that you can fix 100% by right-clicking and pressing ignore.

Same guy has asked for the 50k 1) because he's poor and just needs the money to buy a certain unlock; 2) as an entry fee for a certain guild; 3) as payment for dancing. He is unbelievably persistent. I don't doubt the $2M claim.
