Do you know when to start thinking they wont make that deadline? WHEN THE ANNOUNCE THEY WONT BE MAKING THAT DEADLINE. Bear in mind ROTHC was announced on 12/18/12 and released on 4/14/13. Thats about 4 months prior to release that a "huge announcement" was made concerning it. By the same release dimensions , if they stick to their cadence, my guess is we will hear something in June. Until then, stop assuming a failure by Bioware, stop assuming delays and doom and gloom, and let them do their work.
That's completely incorrect. The GSH release window has already been announced and does not include a level increase and has a rolling release window from August 19th - October 14th.

Ironically, you came in here suggesting everyone else in this thread is making assumptions and we actually have already posted the hard data on release dates that already have been officially made. The next 6-8 week release window as already stated will be the first week of November through mid-December. This is known because, math. Further, there is no way that the level increase will come with GSH. That will 100% guaranteed be attached to a new planet story line.

OP, subs have already been hemorrhaging ever since the major lack of endgame PvP and PvE content in SWToR. It still continues to this day because all BioEAware cares about is focusing on the cash shop to gouge the playerbase to purchase more reskinned cosmetic items.

with the release of a new Star Wars movie, there is a huge potential for a massive boost and revival of this game, if it is relaunched well with a huge expansion- i'm thinking something like 20 levels, about 4 planets, 1 act of class storylines, 2 or possibly 3 new operations - revamp of many systems, new animations, new music, etc. People would be looking for an immersive Star Wars experience to flow with the movie and the mania, something that goes beyond an FPS, or star fighter game that is completable in a few hours.. They'll need an MMORPG - and while they could have been building a brand new game, why not make this one really more awesome.
  • 20 levels
  • 4 new planets and unique enviornments for levelling and story lines
  • Chapter 5 of class stories
  • new mechanics: possibly flying/force jumps/rocket boosters etc
  • Full space 3-D environment - you can manually navigate your ship through space and fly to planets in space or still do it automatically through your class ship and shuttles.
  • 100s of new planet worlds - allowing player creation worlds to do stuff on those - yes all the worlds that your companions visit on crew skills will be available. Build bases, armadas, private army
:

yes, i have limited my imagination to what i reckon would be feasibly implementable if they had started working on this partially last year in readiness for a Winter 2015/Jan-Feb 2016 release.
Mace this is an excellent post. I would love this so much.

In fact I would be so happy with this that if they could get the level cap expansion out by Jan/Feb, I would be fine with no new content from that point until December other than bug patches and cartel market updates and bringing events back if it meant putting every possible resource at a "cardboard box" scale expansion that took us to lvl 80, expanded end game content, the planets, operations, warzones, etc.

And you are absolutely right. EA should be pining for a Disney investment right now because if they could use the movie to market a new huge expansion they could easily put this game back into the million(s) subs territory which would mean more money coming into the game, more dev hires, and more stuff for the player base.

Great contribution to the thread!

Since the previous dev team developed this game with that mindscope, it's no wonder that this game saw a hemorrhaging of subscribers right after launch. MMOers wanted MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER content, not solo content that lasts 1 to 2 weeks.

2.9 is a staggered launch of three releases between August 19th and October 14th.

Well what they've done with the cash shop is probably a whole other thread on its own. Only EA would justify selling in game items for more than the cost of a monthly sub. To me the irony is that no one's digital horse is worth anything. They could sell one to every player at $3 or sell one to 10% of the population at $30. So they sell it at $30 because of the psychology behind it and treat their customers like dirt.

But the players buy it, which is astonishing. If you walked into a McDonalds and ordered a Big Mac and the cashier told you it would be $30 you would not hesitate to walk out. But EA knows they can gouge gamers due to the drive for the new shiny, and sure enough, there goes someone on fleet on their $30 digital horse.

You're starting to sound like you are upset at how someone chooses their money or jealous because they have the means to buy it and you can't/won't.

"FTFlop" Free to Flop? That solo content you speak of lasts way more than 2 weeks. (Unless you play religiously for lack of any sleep, then seek help.) If you have nothing new to contribute other than the loss of subs after launch, don't bother posting. It's been talked to death and the game is in a better state now than at Launch.

Your supposition is based on a narrowly defined construct of what constitutes enjoyment. Perhaps the fun you achieve from TOR is based primarily on aspects of PvP; or maybe it's PvE; possibly, your fun comes from crafting, grinding, or even RP. No matter, whatever combination of game components sates your tickle button is probably unique to you and of only tangential interest to other players.

From these and all the other gaming forums I've witnessed the pervasive theme among individual posters is this game (pick any game) sucks because it does not conform to and focus specifically on my unique interests.

Make no mistake, I'm not pointing fingers, we're all equally judgmental in our gaming preferences, me included. Still, while I'm not a major trafficker in Cartel Coins, I'm not particularly inclined to render judgments against an obviously large number of TOR participants who enjoy collecting and playing with the items purchased from the Cartel Market.

I'd commend that fun rears its head in many forms and impugning any of them because they do not fit within your particular paradigm is woefully shortsighted.

Respectfully submitted.

I was not discussing enjoyment at all. I was discussing value, which is a defined concept within economics.

No, you were discussing fun in the most literal sense. In questioning the value of items in the Cartel Market you are simultaneously de-valuing the fun that a large number of players take from their purchases. My point, however unclearly I may have stated it, is that value in a virtual gaming world is absolutely relative to the monetary burden players are willing to bear in their pursuit of enjoyment. It's sort of like game subscriptions -- some players lack the capacity and/or motivation to pay a monthly sub, while opposite on the continuum are those who view it as a great bargain insofar as their entertainment is concerned.
