Because I doubt they wanted to work around all their cutscenes for all 8 class stories and all the mess of coding and probably was easier to start from scratch and figured they could package player housing as a new and exciting new feature for SWTOR, rather than it just appearing to be a QoL change.

Work around... what?
Add quick travel back to where u where (since a quick travel to the ship already exist)...
Add a legacy storage.

While adding housing.. is guess it's FAR MORE expen-sive to programm.

Many people have said that all the damn cutscenes the game has to load a board the ship makes it difficult to code anything without screwing something up.

Also, housing is going to be awesome in this game in whatever form they put in. I have been telling everyone be patient, you'll see it eventually. It's going to be great. I can't wait!

They have stated multiple times that the coding on the player ships is an absolute mess. Maybe you haven't noticed they can't get unify colors and hide helm to work for comps in cut scenes?

It was far easier for them to start from scratch with player housing then to go in and potentially break the ships.

/say has been broken for weeks. Do you really think that if they cant even fix -that- that they should go in and mess with something that your class story and travel options are dependant on?

DAoC has always been my favorite version of housing. Only thing I didnt like was the instancing part. Im a sandbox openworld type player but have had so much fun with story and a new theme with SWtOR that all the i stancing hasnt bothered me. DAoC had like 3 levels of housing, multiple color schemes and was hook point free for hanging decorations.

Global warming will be aswell, just be patient, you'll see.

And serioulsy i can really understand why ppl like housing. I do. Like in WoW or in whatever MMO it is aswell.
But be honest , thats not the thing we play SWTOR, and the ship even fulfills the job quite weill. We play it for the Story, the Raid or PvP. Some even as a eco simulation. Others for Roleplaying. But as i said, as far as i noticed it, they rather would have their /say back or chat bubbles.
SO other then MAYBE the RPlayers. Who will use the house for what? (Besides the legacy storage). Do u stare at it? ANd why ppl think housing is content? Content is something work u have to do. like oricon or the rakghul event ( which was awesome). that's content.

Well then MAYBE fix the ships? Seriously every patch they mess something up anyway, /say, nightmare mechanics in storymode, no sound in GStarfighter , the Republics even get the tactical FP Weekly before lvl 50s... the imps don't., "the week Cz-198 lagged".

No counting the many all day bugs, and items mess up .
So regardless where they code anything, something major will be broken again.
And , as far as i remember last year they didn't stated that it would be to hard to get the storage on the ship...
They actually said in one Cantina drive "We actually don't think that we will at legacy storage, since this will cost too much programming space. We rather WOULD LIKE TO ADD NEW PLANETS RAIDS OR STORYS.

2 months later GSH was announced... what the heck happened?

Could you please stop speaking for everyone? You don't know for a fact what reason I play SWTOR for. Just because you don't see a use for Housing doesn't mean others will feel the same. And yes GSH is playable content. Getting to decorate your own house is a fun mini-game of a content like space missions and GSF.

"What about our ships?" Many others have already told you and quite frankly with how quick people are to lash out against Bioware for even the tiniest mistake, do you really want them break something in game when it would simply just be easier to make it from scratch?

I hardcore roleplay and my ship does not do. I have always wanted something planet side or planet based where I can have my quarters. The ship is just the home away from home. The reason I play SWTOR are my own reasons. I don't do operations, raid, flashpoints, any of that stuff. Don't care about the latest gear, don't care about my scores in anything. I do my dailies to get the credits, put things on the gtn also, to get more outfits that I change out a lot on my characters, go to starter planets, craft things for people, buy medpacs, stims, etc and give them out on the starting planets. I mainly grind to help people out and roleplay a Jedi Master that goes around and helps.

So yes, to me, I LOVE player housing. It makes my character more involved with the world and living in it rather than me just playing a character. Bring more things on like this!
