I understand that you folks at BioWare are working on your wondrous multitude of things - as a designer myself, I completely understand the issues that come up on a daily basis, and even moreso the issues that crop up unexpectedly like this one likely did. Please, keep doing awesome, it's why I'm here on this game instead of any others. Y'all rock.

But, as the person who built www.BegerenColony.org and many of its additions, one could say I have -made- the workarounds... But they're only workarounds. We prefer to do our Roleplay in your wonderful game, so I am certain you understand why this issue is important to us - even if it only is affecting a small portion of the overall audience. One could Roleplay on a forum or chatroom or teamspeak without a game having ever been built, and it is your game that allows us to bring our stories and tales to life and enrich them. There is no workaround for missing such a thing.

There is no miracle fix to any issue, as a dev I understand that. It may take some time to fix an issue that has come out of the blue, as I suspect this one has. I also understand if it is given a lower priority due to the nature of it and what areas of the game (very little) has been affected. This is reasonable.

However, I must add my support to this threads call for communication. Even with the fact that I am a part of the industry and understand its pitfalls, having nothing but to wonder is a painful thing to a community. Uncertainty turns to doubt and anger, even when there may be no cause for it. Your Devs may be hard at work fixing the issue or working on their other tasks as appropriate - but the community managers and reps are here to respond to the community, right?

So talk to us and let us know where things stand.

As the creator and leader for one of the larger groups affected by this disruptive bug, I believe I can speak for most of us when I say it would go a -long- way to putting us at ease while we use our workarounds.

Thank you.
+1 to this.

We appreciate all the support and effort you guys put into your continued development of SWTOR, and as we've seen here, it's various respective players, keep up the awesome work.

All we're asking for here is some communication so that we know where this stands in the developmental cycle, any form of reply would be greatly appreciated. Naturally, we'll continue using our workarounds until our preferred RP platform of choice returns to us in a form capable of sustaining what we'd like out of it, preferably with wings and heavenly harp accompaniment.

Until then...PvP still yet lives...

Yeah, I was doing the Nar Shaddaa Kingpin mission the other day on my Sage and a Juggernaut came in and started wailing on him along with me... then at 10% he moved away and turned off his companion... let me finish off that last 5% and I captured Arkan. He had no way to know that I wanted capture or kill, so I thought it was great that he didn't just keep wailing and assume kill. When I tried to thank him... I couldn't... So, I healed him and did the same "call off companion" at 10% thing during his fight. It was the least I could do, but being able to thank him... for being a fine and respectable PLAYER regardless of faction would have been nice.

There is still the possibility of /thank, as only custom emotes (via /e or /me or /emote or /action [if that last one even is ingame] or whatever) aren't cross-faction. Another one of those strange decisions during development.

Other than that: *bump*

I have a couple of characters on test, and I thought it might be interesting to see if it's there. There was only 1 other person on, but they were opposite faction. I was able to type and see it show up in the chat. It's probably too small of a group to make any judgement on it, but I'd encourage people to see if it works on test.

I would also implore Bioware to not let someone attempt to throw around what weight they BELIEVE they have in some misguided attempt to force an answer out of the company. Threats and petulance should never be met with capitulation.

Until/unless these individuals decide to approach you respectfully and maturely about it (and no, I don't consider threats of economic reprisal "respectful" or "mature" - veiled or otherwise), I wholeheartedly recommend shoving the "bug" (could very well be a new feature!) to the bottom of the list. Repair it after the codex entries are all fixed, maybe?

It's sad that a VERY small contingent of players on a handful of servers feels the need to be so belligerent. But don't let that affect you, developers - please. Otherwise, all they'll do every time they want priority in the bugfix line is exactly what you're seeing here.

There's no place for this nonsense in the 21st century, eloquently phrased or not. Please ignore it and do what you guys do. They do not need confirmation. They just need patience and understanding, and it's not your job to give it to them. -bp

I see there's a patch coming in this week. Very happy to see that.

Bioware, could you please drop us just a line to let us know if this issue will be addressed in that patch. Just a few words of "We have a fix" or, if not, even just "Not this patch but we're working on it" would be so encouraging. The wall of silence a month after this bug showed up is very discouraging.

This is one reason why I have dropped my Sub.

Fix this bioware or you are going to lose more.

I do a little PVP. A fair amount of PVE. And I did do a helluva lot of roleplay. I'm not going to cancel my sub or anything, but this chatbug has made me not want to log in at all. So I haven't.

I do utilize things like skype and forums for RP, but having it back in-game would be great. And as I've said before, an "Okay, we're still working on it, but programming this fix is complicated" would really be nice. It would ease the minds of players.

I really do understand that roleplayers are a small minority, and I also understand if this isn't a high-priority fix. However, I'm very much hoping for some sort of update.
