Even though it won't be canon in Star Wars anymore, can new books, comics, games etc still be created as Legends? Or is Legends a dead end? Not talking about fanfic, but more official stuff.

Right now they aren't planning on releasing new stuff under the Legends Imprint other than this game continuing (assuming it is Legends, which is a safe bet) and Dark Horse finishing up their runs for the rest of the year on a few ongoing comic series that are now Legends, like Legacy (Vol. 2) and Rebel Heist.

It's always possible (and it's my personal hope) that down the line they'll come to the conclusion they can make more money by supporting Legends as a full-blown Alternate Universe and start putting out new products under the Imprint. But that definitely doesn't seem to be the current game-plan:

From Jennifer Heddle, Senior Editor at LucasFilm/LucasBooks during a Twitter Q&A on the Canon changes:

@jenheddle: Correct. (For now? Always in motion is the future, etc, etc.)
Given the choice whether to rule a corrupt and failing empire or to challenge the fates for another throw, a better throw, against one's destiny, what was a king to do?
But does one ever truly have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars.

They should have let Dark Horse keep making Legend comics while Marvel make new Star Wars stuff.

But I suppose the problem with that is, they will compete with each other. So no more Legends, or else it will compete with the canon Star Wars.

They should add to the existing Legends EU. It was very popular before the change and will continue to remain so. There were some works in progress that should be finished and released, The Sword of the Jedi trilogy for example. It just would not make sense to not continue with the novels, atleast

The latest word is that swtor writers work close together with the official StarWars writing group that do the reseach and background on 'new' StarWars(SW) 'stuff'. Roughly the Offical SW writing group consist of all 'old' SW writers, - so there's a big hope for this game to become more the C - canon as was the case before. As for the EU, it is clearly stated that its a source for inspiration for any new SW 'stuff' written.
