Because what this game really needs is less variety and less distinctiveness in characters.
I'm sure that won't piss off far, far more people than are currently annoyed at not having an AC switch option.

I'd have no problem with a paid AC switch being implemented, (although it wouldn't make my Top 10 list of QoL features I'd like,) but scuttling the AC system would be a flat-out absurd response to its absence.
One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars. ~Kain

The other thing to consider is that because of lockouts, I prefer having my PT tank and Merc healer/dps as separate characters.

and that somehow excusing your thinly veiled attempts to troll? your idea is 1. a lot more complicated to implement then AC switch token

no one asked for "streamlining" their characters, and there's no point to it.

Trust me, if I were actually trolling, you would be screaming your head off in the thread as I laughed. This is not a troll. It's just something I had on my mind.

Please no, Advanced Classes allow me to experience mirror story without lvling exactly similar character twice.
What they could do is to make Advanced class chosen in character creation instead of lvl 10

superman_AZ, you do "psuedo-troll" a little bit, i've seen you around (i'm the guy who has previously complained about 'weavers', i'm sure you'll recognize). the only thing that makes you different from a normal troll is that you take facts, and the OP's words into consideration, whether you agree or not. at least you can be reasoned with, and you don't have an ego, only a desire to show stupid people how they are are stupid (we all do).

a lot of your ideas are creative, but i don't see why they wouldn't work any worse than mine. i guess it's because trying to figure a way to make things simpler/easier for people who don't perform as well automatically gets you labeled as one of those "nerf everything" people. it happens even if you're only trying to remove the "not facing target" feature so people can actually hit someone who is darting around you instead of fighting face to face like a man would. i seriously don't understand how letting people auto-face target on the activation of an ability would possibly count as being such a tremendous, game-shaking change to do, all the same classes would still function just as well, it would only counteract, in my opinion, dirty fighting.

people keep telling me to stop keyboard turning, but the top row alone takes up 13 keys, now try that for the bottom one and my 4 quick bars! i just don't see it happening, and habits don't break easy. and i have to stop just because people are legally exploiting something?! with the 4 seconds of insane movement speed acquired from using blaster whip/shiv, a melee attack, BW is either encouraging this to be exploited, or they just want scoundrels/ops, as well as other classes, to be able to escape, which would be understandable.

some people have even told me to buy some crappy, expensive gamer mouse or something! that's a
pretty crazy and complex solution to an easily fixable situation i see taken advantage of more than necessary, whether intentional or not.

anyway there are many flaws in your idea, but for the most part the concept is good. i just want an expensive AC-changing consumable. people respec skill points like crazy, and its not like it will perversely affect the story just because now you have two pistols and more rockets. if they were to do this idea, which i found incredibly creative, i think they should give all 5 skill trees for the class so people get their beloved arsenal, engineering, and lightning (my favorites!). you must have the equipment of a certain AC to have access to its things, it just wouldn't work out. you would never see a tank dual-wielding sabers without any shield generator, considering tanks gravitate around that single piece of equipment.

anyway, after that in there, it would just be a complex version to an AC switch, except without the money for BW to receive when people spend their money on a consumable, since VG sucks in the animation department (except riot gas). it would also have to be re-written to hell's anal cavity and back just to accommodate every aspect like restricting tanking to tanks, etc., and whatever user interface they put in, and the removal of everything AC related and restructuring the whole game because they removed one of the biggest components of SWTOR.

an inevitable uprise from cranky players will also take place, because BW, like all companies do, will find some odd way to screw something up that normal players wouldn't have even seen coming it's so stupid (i.e. discontinuation of class stories *cough*). this would take a lot more money and time than just something that magically makes you the opposite AC.
people on the internet are only mean because they can get away with it

What...no! Id like to think SWTOR has 8 classes (or 16 with mirror), you just removed half of them. Seriously, if they just made the 8 classes instead of calling it AC's then no one would have a problem with it.

Advanced classes differ, a lot. Its not just skill tree its weapons, range, tactics, stealth/non-stealth, armor...it makes no sense to me to merge them and kill 2 out of every 5 skill trees. No offense, but feeling stuck in your AC is just silly. If you choose to go stealth and backstab people you dont just think: "hey I wish I could shoot people from 35 meters away". Thats the exact opposite yet it would be the same class in your example.

The time you spent creating and answering threads here and there, you could've spent into making a 55 of the other AC, instead of asking for factions swaps, AC change, and then some.
