Considering how dull the combat is, I certainly dont need a challenge there. Thats best reserved for fun combat systems.

Not much fun in spamming many weak attacks that dont seem to do much at all against any kind of boss. I'd rather have much less attacks but each holding more meaning, and shorter but more intense boss fights.

HP spunges are the most boring thing in any game. Just a waste of time, and not a challenge.

I'm probably an anomaly, but I have a degenerative neuromuscular disease that has seriously glitched my hand-eye coordination, among other things. The game is plenty challenging for me, so much so that I'm often forced to grind my level up some before doing quests in new areas. Don't get me wrong, I do okay, but my confidence sucks Bantha snot.

Needless to say, I don't PvP and will only solo flashpoints (for fear of letting down teammates). That said, I've played Aion, WoW, GW 1/2, TSW and, most recently ESO. The PvE portions of all those games seemed somewhat easier, at least for me, than does TOR.

As an aside, I've just returned to TOR after a two-year hiatus and I'm finding it more enjoyable than before. I leveled several alts to cap previously and maybe I was in that 'hurry up and level mode' then, now I'm just taking it easy and enjoying the ride very much. Kind of enjoying the Cartel stuff -- like a bit of Christmas whenever I open things, and Treek is especially sweet -- perfect companion for my grindy play style.

Do you have "From Beyond" "Dragonslayer" "Eternal Warrior" "Gatecrasher"? Because if not, then trust me the game is more than challenging enough for you.

Many hardcore RPG gamers making a challenge for themselfes. Like walkthrough with level 1. Or time challenge.
More options can be added. It's just depends on player.

P.S. Haven't tryed DP and DF HM yet and already crying for challenge? Dude...
My thoughts exactly. It's more like "Just give me NEW stuff and make it just hard enough for ME".

Bah...the challenge is there if you want it OP, you're just being lazy. Complaining about the lack of content, I would agree with you on, but complaining about the challenge? That's on you. It's a game.

We seem to have "goldilox syndrome" running in the forum toay..... "it's too hard!, "it's too easy!".... and we are still waiting to hear a "it's just right!"... but since many different players play for many different reasons.. I'm not hopeful that the forum will complete the goldilox trilogy anytime soon. We do however have one forum member who is once again prosecuting their desire to pay for everything with real life money and not actually play the game.
/comes in with "just right" statement. cause the difficulty of TOR is just right for me personally.

and the goldilox trilogy is complete!

that said, OP, until you actualy experience hardmode/NIM content? content that you yourself admitted not to have tried? maybe you should rethink your statements? you know?

of course flashpoints are "easier" with gear that outlevels them by several tiers. and not just flashpoints either. you want challenge? do content in gear it was intended to be done.

and no, they shouldn't make them more difficult just because YOU are now outgearing them, because there are plenty of people who don't.

I am not looking to beat my head against a wall but I want something to feel a sense of accomplishment when defeating a "boss". I think that this is the games biggest problem. Bioware can get away with having new content (flashpoints/operations) once every year if it was consistently challenging. The difficulty of content can increase its shelf life.

So, does anyone else feel bored with the PvE content? What do you do to keep the game fresh and prevent it from becoming boring?
If you aren't in a progression guild clearing the hardest content and you want a challenge I'm afraid the only option is to set your own goals.

I could see a 'wave' mechanic being one way to implement an increasing scale of challenge. I can remember a few hours of fun with 'Dawn of War II' just trying to see how many waves I could successfully defeat. The bonus with this is if set up well skill and knowledge of skills can be as large a part of just having the best gear.

It would certainly sit well in the Rakghoul outbreaks, with waves of varying rakghouls and numbers attacking until you fail.

I think devs holding hands is what the OP is soliciting against.

I see this sort of response many times in this forum. "Want harder? Take off your gear." Try asking yourselves that sometime. Is it not part of the game to strive to be the best? Is it not part of the game knowing there is something better than what you have and you must work your way into it? Well, maybe it is for only some of us with this entitlement society we have today, but for me, telling me if I want to challenge myself I only need to remove the items that make me over powered is only taking a large part of the fun out of the game.

I hope you people realize by saying if anyone wants a challenge then they need to run the game naked, your only proving the points of the 2 million former subscribers that left within the 1st 6 months of this game. Honestly guys, please think about it, your not helping things at all.

Your are distorting the facts.

OP is upset the game is too easy for him. You know what.. there are ALWAYS players like the OP.. that feel whatever MMO they are playing must be tuned specifically for their needs/wants/desires. Except.. it does not work that way.

The point you are distorting is people come to the forum to whine and complain, and other players try to help...help them embrace constructive ways for said OP to actually dial-in the challenge level they desire within the current release state of the game.

Most humans are quite clever and can figure out how to game an MMO to their advantage...but will not or cannot figure out how to tune their play difficulty. But I do concede people such as the OP, and yourself, don't want to take any sense of ownership of your game play experience... you want what you want, and you want it nao...and any discussion about ways to self-overcome perceived constraints is considered a personal attack you your preferred play style.

There are north of a million active players in SWTOR. The game is not designed for the handful.

Q4T

There will always be players who say any game is too easy or too hard. There are also players who will complain regardless of whether or not they've actually tried their hand at all the content has to offer.

I certainly don't consider myself to be an awesome gamer. I play games for the pure enjoyment and relaxation. That being said I think the broader appeal to MMO's in general is they have something to offer every kind of gamer out there. If you want truly challenging content, you can probably find it. If you want ez-mode content, it's probably there too.
