I have no idea what people talk about with DPS being in a rush. When I'm tanking the DPS are usually begging for me stop and slow down.

I quit tanking FP especially HM FP because of the people, mainly the healers. I was running into healers that were too busy wanting to DPS than heal. I'm at 5% health and I still see pebbles flying from the healers hand. I couldn't take it anymore.

This pretty much. My tanking characters stick to Tacticals now. Much less stress that way.

I think the problem is that the Tank-Healer-DPS paradigm has run its course. It's a model that no longer makes sense the way people play games today.

It made sense when MMORPGs were played by a relatively few people who were very hard core about it. But now there are so many games competing for people's attention, not just MMORPGs, but things like MOBAs

Yep, until the DPS is two rooms away, crying about being dead because of no heals. Then it's the most important thing in their lives. Funny how that works, isn't it? It's not a SW unique issue either, it's every MMO I've ever played where it exists. But here's the dialog at the beginning of a FP here:

DPS: I won't need any heals, I outgear this FP, and will be able to faceroll everything.

Heals: Might be better if you just let the tank tank.

DPS: Bah, don't need a tank either.

5 minutes later, the DPS Is dead, due to trying to pull whole rooms at the same time, cussing because the tank didn't taunt to save him, and the healer didn't heal. When you point out the opening dialog, the DPS gets mad. I can't imagine why people would be mad for holding them to what they said, but hey, they're DPS, so they can't do any wrong...

Reading through this whole thread makes me feel sad as a strictly dps player

Don't get me wrong, I've heard many horror stories regarding brainless damage dealers that pull before the tank, think they're invincible etc... so I fully understand why anyone who rolls a tank (or a healer) can get frustrated and think 'screw it.. tank/heals is for friends/guilds only'. If I were you, I'd think the same thing too. I tried to be a healer once (sorc) and was so intimidated by the loud mouths screaming at me I was doing it all wrong (I was level 24 or something) that I changed my spec straight after and never healed again. A year on and I still haven't. Heaven forbid I should dare roll a tank.

So that left me with dps rolls only, but luckily for me I love them. Ranged mostly. That meant using the GF was a long, drawn out nightmare some nights waiting and waiting for it to pop, sometimes getting nothing at all. Which brings me to my point. As a strictly dps player, I come into this thread and read all these posts and finally see why the queue times can be so long. The bad experiences you've all had with bad dpsers, puts good dpsers like me in the dung. I know my roll, I know the do and don'ts. I don't pull and am rarely too far from the healer in case some trash come-a-lurking for them. I am patient and you no what... I won't ever ask you to spacebar whether it be my 1st or 100th time doing a fp. You want a fast run? I'll have your back all the way. You need time and want to take things slowly and calculate your pulls? I'll often spend that time wondering to myself what exactly you're thinking and how you're going to go about doing it.

In all my time playing this game I have yet to come across the dps player that runs one or two rooms ahead, but clearly they are out there. And it's them that are taking the tanks and healers I need out of the gf queue and into private runs, and I don't blame you.

This is what makes me very sad.

That's why I love playing tanks and healers. The GF pops almost instantly and it's very easy to deal with stubborn dps when you're playing a role that's not as easily replaced as they are. Most troublemakers fall in line pretty fast.

"Oh, you pulled it? You're tanking it."
"I see you're standing in AoE, please feel free to heal yourself."
I see their R2 droid and I grab it. No, you can't have it back, silly rabbit!

I can imagine the trolling potential on my assa tank XD
Stealth through everything and watch the dps getting killed without being able to attack/move.

Look me up if you're on TRE. I'm regularly running repside flashpoints and their bonuses.
