Then it is a legitimate performance issue. And it's been around since beta testing, why have Bioware not worked on optimizing the engine yet? By now, literally everyone knows that this game's engine is tissue paper. It can't handle ANYTHING. It stops Bioware from increasing the godd@mned guild roster size and mission log size.

The Engine is holding Bioware back from doing anything good with the game. It's the reason we can't have huge wars like the title "Star Wars" would imply. And I mean this for PvP and PvE alike. Operations don't feel like they're part of a war at all. The new Flashpoints on the Force-user origin worlds felt a little bit like a war, but still nowhere near enough. The engines the reason we can have guild flagships yet definitely won't have massive guild vs guild combat in them.

Bioware needs to do something to optimize the engine.

until i see a mouse in overalls sailing a boat down the river on Alderan, this game is far from cartoony... no mystical talking animals and sentient teapots here...
you may wanna turn your graphic settings up...
if all the great fashion designers have gone over to the Darkside, then i will too...
Jedi Covenant: The Ashtear Legacy:

Elhaym - Shadow / Shinoa - Scoundrel
Dawnaria - Assassin / Adawn - Mercenary / D'jour - Operative

LoL, so minute, eh? So you have 150 people on fleet spamming general chat with who did who's mother when, and you think that's minute? Can't. Stop. Laughing.

There are virtually no downsides to any other game that uses chat bubbles effectively for communication, and all of which can be alleviated by options to use them or not. ON/OFF switch. quality of life is an important aspect of game design too. It makes or breaks immersion and not having specific settings and options for some people feels like they are having appendages removed for virtually no reason.
So what you're saying is: Hey Devs, spend your development time creating a feature that possibly 90% of the people playing will turn off, because it's obscuring their screens on fleet, or in other heavily populated areas?

It's honestly atrociously bad for communication, as you have to be STARING at your chat box to tell if someone is speaking. and that isn't something I like to do. I don't consider myself as playing a text adventure game, I don't see why I have to stare at the chat box.

Was it a style choice by the dev's to have the game feel like a land of ghosts staring each other down?

TL : DR Does anyone know why there is no chat bubbles (I.E. Dev commentary etc) Or is it just one of those things no one has brought up?
I've always found chat bubbles get in the way more than they help anything.

All my characters in Aion are cartoons too so what's your point? In fact, I can design characters infinitely more cartoonish there than I can here. I guess this train of thought works better on people that haven't actually played Aion?

ive never understood the "charm" people feel in chatbubbles. i always opt out of those in any mmo i play. they just clog the screen and makes the environment and npcs feel less alive. imo atleast. but everyone has their own specific taste.

how is it lazy that they tried but it caused too many performance issues so it had to be cut?

This also proves that you actually love the game despite claiming you hate it.
