Indeed, also, its not like its the norm, this is the odd game out, every other game that Ive played, and thats plenty, have had either a terminal or NPC you interacted with, or just mailed to you.

Choices are a good thing. Having the option to turn off XP when I want to is just a choice I would like to have in every MMORPG I play. Does my ability to turn off XP affect other player's ability to earn it? No. So, dear Devs, please provide an option to disable XP. I'd really appreciate it. Because I like having choices.

I love dbl XP weekends personally....but everytime one is announced, there's a section of the community who complains about not having an opt out. I'm honestly surprised they (BW) haven't just started sending out a legacy bound 2xp consumable or something. Hopefully they'll do SOMETHING about the 2XP controversy so we can all get back to what's REALLY important.....

Namely....COMPLAINING ABOUT THEM NOT ADDING JOYSTICK/CONTROLLER SUPPORT FOR GSF!!!!!! (Yea.... I went there )

No one says it has to be a toggle option that someone could switch off by mistake.

Bioware could mail double XP boosts. This has the added benefit of helping people who work odd schedules.

Bioware could also put the option to buy a toggle for double XP in the Cartel Market. Bam, they're not making zero money. I would happily pay for that.

It's more like if you were reading a book, and someone comes along and replaces it with the Cliffs Notes version without asking you. Sure, it's a more efficient version of the same content, but some people also prefer the journey over the destination.

They won't hand out a consumable because a big part of 2xp is to get people to log in when they want them to log in. I suppose if the consumable had an expiration date it might work, but I don't think I've seen that tech in this game yet.

I love 2xp for the 2xp and because my sales during the week after 2xp are always through the roof.

I might try GSF if it had joystick support.

Nobody's preventing you from reading the whole book. 2xp just means you might outlevel the content. You can still go see all the content.

If you want to go with the book analogy, it's more like you're reading a book by the light of a single candle in an otherwise pitch dark room with loud, random noises all around you and someone terminates the noise and gives you a bright, true-white light. They made it easier for you to read the book. That's all.

Ahh, but perhaps some people prefer the atmosphere of the former rather than the easiness of the latter. Amazingly enough each person has a different view on what they find fun while playing a game. For some people, such as myself, part of that fun includes playing the content while the content is still "green" for our characters (and some of us do not have a max level character to play with yet, so our only option is not to play at all - and that is always a piss-poor option for a game). It doesn't matter that we can wear lesser armor, or no armor at all, it doesn't matter we can still "experience" the content, it doesn't matter whether you or anyone else likes how we have fun playing the game or understands why we find it fun. All that matters is that is how we get the most enjoyment out of the game. Why is that so wrong, and why are our ways of getting enjoyment any less important than the million or so other players in this game?

And that's where you effectively lose the argument. If the only argument you have against 2xp is that you want the game to be "challenging" as you play it, you know you have a way to make it be that. You might choose not to do it, but that choice is on you, not the developers.

In other words, you are capable of solving the problem for yourself, and it's a very, very simple solution. So solve it and stop complaining that others aren't solving your problems for you.

Hi there,

What about an XP on/off option?

You could have it so Subscribers have this option, or, on those double XP days/weekends, have an option that pops up then.

This will be good for both parties, those that want to level fast, and those that like to do the stories and have them at yellow/green, or even orange.

LMAO!!! Exactly. These threads are BEYOND ridiculous given the alternatives. Game or not, the double salary anaology is spot on. Why the heck would you have an issue with something that makes your life so much more enjoyable AND DOES NOTHING TO DETRACT FROM THE REST OF THE GAME (You have options!!!)? This is like asking to dig a hole with a spoon and refusing to use a shovel when a buddy offers you one. There are much bigger and more important matters than this, especially because of the lack-of increases in BW's bottom line by giving you this option.

And BTW, cancelling your sub doesn't mean BW can't make money off you via CCs. In fact, that's a more lucrative market than the subscriptions. Sooooo, find a way to deal with it like I've had to deal with the local taco bell not having a value menu after 2AM (THIS is a much bigger deal than being "forced" to get experience). May the 4th be with you!

* The main issue with having a "Double XP on / off" button is that some silly players will inadvertantly click it and ruin their weekend, causing a headache. There is no reason to invest what limited time and resources BW has into developing something like this.

*Please note, reductio ad absurdum was not observed in the making of this post
