I think you're forgetting something...

I am so over Hoth doing it on my 3rd character in the past month or so. I just want to do my class quest and maybe the main planet story arch and call it a day.

Don't log in whilst double XP is running. There you go, you opted out.

I'll never understand the pushback on these requests. Pretty sure he's not asking to completely do away with double xp, just allow those who don't wish to participate a way to toggle it off at will.

The problem with this request and why it wont even be considered by BW is this:

1. You are asking them to do work that makes them zero money.

2. Stupid people will accidentally turn off their double xp and CRY ALL DAY for weeks about it.

3. You can experience the story at any lvl. So it doesn't matter how fast you lvl as far as "experiencing the game".

4. Most people want to play endgame or be alt-aholic and lvling faster is a means to that end. Basically the vast majority wants double xp, and often.

5. Did you know the "level up" in a video game triggers a small dopamine response in people? Meaning people are slightly addicted to getting a lvl or goal. Faster high more often? yes.

So, please dont ever expect there to be a toggle of any kind for 2x xp.

You know what else makes zero money? A cancelled account. When people get fed up enough they just walk away.

Er, wat? Those inclined to opt-out of double xp (or any bonus xp) would disable it forever and be happy about it. The OP wasn't asking to shut off all xp, just double xp and only on a personal opt-out basis.

That just about works but it's not ideal. I have a Sentinel I'm levelling atm. I don't use xp boosts and since Coruscant all I have run is class quests and an FP or two each night. No side quests, no heroics, no pvp and no gsf. I'm ready to leave Alderaan and I'm level 32 which is 1 level above the last quest. Being roughly the correct level for the content has made the game slightly more challenging and is enjoyable but the thing is I haven't actually run most of the side quests for the Republic before so I'm missing a lot of content out. And, now I need to put her in stasis for a few days.

An opt out would be a simple thing to implement, it could even be that you get double xp by using a free buff sent to you in the mail so you could choose to use it or not. Then people who want double xp can have it and people who don't can stay as they are. Everyone would be happy and there would be no need for the strangely aggressive arguments that we must all have double xp.

I still find this amusing.

If your boss walked into your cubicle and said he was going to double your pay, would you complain that it would make paying your bills and saving for retirement too easy and opt out?

As much as I don't understand people not liking double XP, please do not make the mistake of comparing work in rl to a game

Never said the work was going to change, just the reward.

But OK, if a relative gave you a lottery ticket as a gift and you scratched it off and won $100,000,000, would you choose not to cash it because it would make paying your bills and retiring too easy?
