But... does it really matter whether some guy or some company says it's not canon? It's still created it hasn't been deleted. You yourself can view it as canon,..
I think that's in part the point, they are labeling the post-ROTJ as "legends" not N-Canon. Even though the movies will ride rough-shod over them there is still room for you holding those 'legends' to be true, or just enjoying them for the folktales that they are. Its all about perspective though, that's partly what makes the universe so fun and immersive.

Not much of a shock, I assumed as much when the one thing we knew about the sequels was that it would not follow the expanded universe.

It's been known for months, but now it's official and kind of sad but necessary at the same time.

From the wiki page on the sequels:

"Author Timothy Zahn, whose Star Wars novel series, the Thrawn trilogy, is set in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, was also interviewed in 2012.[50] Zahn confirmed the sequel trilogy would not be based on the Thrawn novels, but said he had been briefed years before on Lucas' plans for the sequels (Zahn had discussions with Lucas before the first Thrawn novel was published in 1991)"

Even though I've been immersed in the EU for almost 20 years, and it irks me (a LOT) that this is happening, I hope the now noncannon storyline is no longer written anymore. It doesn't make sense to me to have more than 1 story timeline going on.

As it should be (minus Thrawn).
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

I modeled my Revan alt in SWTOR after my avatar so I had a better connection with him besides the name and the mask.

Hmph.
Too old.
Yes.
Too old am I to be bothered by all this.

Honestly, I've known since I was about ten that anything not g-canon was vulnerable. I just took the stories with favorite characters for what they were. I always considered the KOTORverse a separate continuity anyway. The one who I feel bad for is Leland Chee. He's put in a Herculean effort trying to keep all of this consistent, only to have a good chunk of his work made irrelevant.

What is sad is that Zahn's trilogy is what ignited interest back into the Star Wars franchise. Up to that point no Movies had been made since Return of the Jedi. The books were not very good up till Zahn. Then all these really great stories started coming out and Star Wars was alive again and Lucas capitalized on this momentum and relaunched the original movies and then did the prequels. These people loved this universe just as much as Lucas or more. He had full control all he had to do was tell them how he wanted the history of the universe to unfold. C3PO is the biggest kick in the nuts ever. In the books he had been around for around 100 years. Lucas could have told them no that is not the case and he said nothing . You either die a hero or you live and you become the villain.

^ This. But, as was mentioned before, aside from setting rules over who could and could not be killed off in EU, Lucas was very hands off. Even though I'm still kinda peeved about the retcon, the inconsistencies (hopefully) being gone for good are the reason I have what hope I do for the new cannon.
