The Expanded Universe Really IS Toast.

The way I see it, even if they print a bunch of **** as Legends, it wouldn't be inconceivable that they are precisely that: Legends of Historical events that occurred thousands and thousands of years ago and therefore are now muddled in history.

I doubt this will directly affect us. AND they showed SWTOR video scenes in the video they produced. *thumbs up

Now if we could only get them to make a movie for our time period

from the sound of it ALL EU post and pre endor content is retconned away especally seeing how much there is pre endor.

also why would they have to change the names for legal reasons?? who else owns the names other than lucas or disney??

as for me this really blows, so much so i now have no interest in the new movie. i own every novel from the Han Solo trilogy up to the last book in the Fate of the Jedi. i have read all of them except for about 4 of them. also have most of the other novels that come before those as well but haven't read but a few of them.

A few things: would old EU stories still be written and published as Legacy? Or would all the old ones be republished as such with no more old canon written?

2nd, what legal reason would cause names to be changed? Disney bought Star Wars and all the rights therein.

Chewie died, get over it. It's unrealistic to expect every main character to survive for multiple decades in such a violent galaxy. Chewie is dead by the timeframe of these new movies, which are going to be set in some strange alternate universe apart from the true Star Wars galaxy.

I hope it's the former, as it would be such a shame for the main storyline (LOTF, FOTJ, Crucible) to end. Crucible would be a decent end, but certainly not preferrable, as there are still many loose ends. The Jaden Korr series (Crosscurrrent, Riptide) also deserves to be finished.

Can they retconn Jar Jar out of everything, too?

Eh. Its only post-ROTJ. Other than maybe Thrawn, must of that was foolish anyhow.
