I'm not saying it never happened, but BW rolling back some people's valor levels doesn't mean that "many PVPers" were kill-trading, or that PVPers in general "have to be treated like children". That would be the same as claiming that just because BW rolled back some PVPers' Ranked scores, "many" players were win-trading, or that Ranked players "have to be treated like children".

He was making some sweeping generalizations about PVPers, I am just asking if there was any evidence to match the scope of his claims. Especially because he's using those generalizations as a reason for why he thinks the devs should have a specific "treat them like children" design approach to future PVP content.

If all he's basing those generalizations on is anecdotal evidence... well then the restrictive, hand-holding design approach he's suggesting seems more like a case of 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater', rather than a proportional response to a problem. The extent of the problem is very relevant to determining the appropriateness of the response.
It's why they closed down Ilum. Because they couldn't find a solution that wouldn't end up with players either cap trading or kill trading.

If the game does not block cap trading or kill trading it will happen on a wide scale. A wide enough scale that they will literally have to kill the game mode. Like they did last time.

What this means is that if you are a subscriber on both dates, you will have one Palace with 5 rooms unlocked. It isn't a "stacking" type of thing. June is a basically a smaller version of the May promotion.

First of let me start by addressing this phrase you point out earlier in your comment sir, You seem awfully full of your self being Nazi Grammer here, but for a article that has been written , lets say, near perfect English (Do you like the capital letter i used, i mean i don't want you to get upset by using a lower case e) and still you cant seem to gather the information that has been given to you in plain and clear sentence and or the comments left by Eric (There another Capital E at someone's name, i mean for god sake it's not like i am filling out a job application, but humor me.) And also been stated on what updates they would release and it what manner, One expansion, mostly dedicated to PVP, being said, i do believe GSF was the PVP expansion that has been release no? And then another dedicated to PVE that being said, do seems logical that STRONGHOLD is the PVE expansion? And somehow you seem to be thinking that you have been given the peoples voice and authority to speak on behalf of the PVP community? Sorry to burst your bubble sir, but i did not throw in my vote for you. (So i hope you can let that little brain of yours proccess this sentance that it means that i am a PVP'er myself and have no problem with the mention of PVP or the content and players and other matter related to it )

As you seem to lack the cerebral cortex part, to comprehend that there are more then just PVP guild's out there that would love to see the special perks added to their guilds and yet you seem awfully convinced this is PVP related, but since you seem so reluctant about this whole Conquest part so i decided to bring the Nazi grammar some substantiation,

\

And yet you are certain that this should only be put up on PVP server as that is the best solution, whilst there has, as you self just said in the above quote that no definite list of features, and still you want to press on the fact that it should be PVP server only, as for the fact that if this would actual be a PVP related expansion, without a final confirmation on the features that will be added, it could have easily been, fight against another guild (which once again could be guild members who absolutely have no PVP experience, knowledge or gear to fight against PVP players, and also that to continue to dominate the planet once you ranked top, you need to defend your base on the planet or flagship against incoming NPC, which can be done by PVP players but since their gear doesn't do that much of damage as PVE geared people would do, you mind find your self in a difficult position to maintaining control over a planet)

Yeah i think you don't need to underscore anything else but...

Why? because

Like bringing out a content and then put it for certain server only, wont get people to quit or swap server in the game, leaving other servers more empty and then to the inevitable shut down.

And even if this was PVP related, please help me clear my ametropia that i do seem to believe that even PVE players PVP and vice versa.

But since you seem to believe that PVP related content should be on only PVP servers, then why don't we remove Planets, FP, Ops and such from PVP server, and let every character on PVP server level by PVP it self no? Being on a RP, or PVE server doesn't mean PVP don't happen, it simply means, open world PVP is not going to happen unless you flag your self, by putting on the option and or attacking another flagged person in open world. Other then that, PVP happens as the same for PVP server, where people who joined that server do PVE related content.

So you're saying that PVP servers can get PVE related content but as long as they release PVP content it should stick to PVP servers? Please be so kindly to go F your self,

As you have your doubts, i have mine, and like you addressed in this coment

As to lower your concerns, the only things that affected the Economic in this game are Crafting Skills, being able to craft, 180 item rating modification items and Cartel Market, and i doubt it will go any other way.

A highly doubt that even with the Stronghold expansion and guild flag ship gaining planetary control will give them certain materials needed to craft that you can't find anywhere. The only thing that will be a even bigger changer in the Economic is and once again and will be Crafting, since you can craft decorations for Strongholds

So if you have something to say about someones previous comment, that was related to yours, please stay on topic if you anyhting valid to say, if not don't try to look cool by being a Nazi grammar, because you look like a double plus class A D-ick.

As for the person might just recently started to learn engl---SIKE---English and or might be dyslectic or some other form of mental illness or physical that prevent them from speaking and or typing proper English so goodbye Mr Nazi grammer A.K.A double plus class A D-ick
You know the drill.

* "Your", and you had nothing to counterpoint. You offered an opinion of my opinion based on anecdotal evidence. Poorly.

Keep YOUR cookies. You've earned 'em.

* Wow. That's high-quality bloviating. Very nice. When these expansions were originally announced, planetary conquest wasn't part of the plan. It's new. New stuff changes in development. Best to put in complaints during the development phase.

That's how to summarize. It's a good thing.

* ...there's really no point to continuing with you, is there? All the best.

Prior to Ilum being taken down to be "rehauled"(and instead being scrapped) they had already addressed faction imbalance and considered performance sufficiently acceptable. The only issue being addressed at the time was kill trading/valor farming. They were unable to fix the problem, so they took it down so it could be entirely rehauled.

I mean, they solved cap trading by removing the daily for them, and then when they had a problem with the new daily because of kill trading, they removed it. There's not really another way to interpret it.

Please, Eric, sir, TELL ME that one of the reasons for the two month push back is that we're going to have more companion interaction, ESPECIALLY with our companion spouses. Because if I log in in August and there are no new traingles over Doc, Quinn, Andronikos, Torian, Iresso/Tharan, Jorgan, Corso or Vector's heads, I'm going to scream the roof tops down!!!!

I don't want to just place my companions in my Strongholds like decorations. I want them to move around touch my crap, comment about my poor decorating choices, etc. And!!! Maybe an option in future dialogue wheels letting us at least mention we got kids if we do.

If it's just a stationary starship, I'll be very disappointed! I've waited TWO YEARS for Vector to say more then 'Agent?' 'We're sorry to say, we can't help you' or Quinn to keep calling me "My Lord?'

*sigh*

Okay, I'm better now. Please make the extra two months worth it. I can only keep making new toons to redo the romances so many times before I wanna stab my eyes out.

Thank you.

And woot!! Two more rooms!!
Bioware, please remember our companion spouses when doing new expansions. I want scenes, letters, or something from them, saying they're worried!

Thank you for putting me on the trail, I appreciate it.

I tried digging around through the search function to look for Reid's comments, the only relevant post I found by searching all his posts for any of the terms "Ilum" "trade" "trading" "valor" or "exploit" turned up this one:

As we said during the Guild Summit, the PvP team is 'going back to the drawing board' with Ilum. That means they want to rework it to be fun and engaging. We accept there are issues with the current design and want to ensure that what we end up with is enjoyable for PvP fans. We have no ETA on when a redesigned Ilum might be available, but when we do have more news, we'll share it.

The PvP team definitely monitors these Forums and would love to see constructive feedback on Open World PvP and how you feel it could be improved. They have their own ideas, of course, and they've read many of the posts here but more feedback is always welcome.
So I googled around for the guild summit for more info, but all I could find was a the PVP session notes where they said:
Quote:
Open world PVP
  • We know they are less popular than warzones. 3x more level 50 warzone players than ilum players – Ilum has some problems!
  • Going back to the drawing board for Ilum – more details later this year.
  • We got a bit too ambitious with ilum – we had some technical difficulties that got in the way of what we wanted to accomplish. Ilum will still be there but just not as incentivzed as much.
  • Redesign Ilum to be more fun and engaging – if it is the right time and right place it is going to be fun – we want to make timed objectives, balancing measures between factions.
  • Removing Ilum PVP quests – rewards being moved to warzones for now.
Q & A:
  • Q: My guild mates were devasted by the removal of Ilum objective based gameplay on Ilum because of trading that were going on. . The new more deathmatch based system just wasn’t the same. Any plans to returns to returns to objectives based system in open world PVP?
  • A: we had issues with the 5 objectives permanently locked to a faction (they are suppose to only lock for a specific amount of time). We weren’t able to do much before the game went live and as such there were trading were going on since these objectives lock permanently unless players changed them. We had to change it to killing for the meantime but it is not our long –term goal. Ilum in the future will be objective focused.
Now, I'm not one to take anything as gospel truth, so I'll fully admit that it might just be a big ol' dose of PR/spin/BS going on, but they definitely seemed to be making a point of characterizing it as an issue of broken mechanics that led to trading to get around the glitches, rather than PVPers acting like children. And elsewhere in the Summit they seemed upfront about taking a "we're going to go after exploiters" approach.

I honestly couldn't find anything about kill-trading or valor farming going on after the changeover you mentioned, which I take to be the change that the devs were discussing at the Summit.

I dunno, I'm just still skeptical about the "PVPers can't be trusted" mindset, especially in the context of people saying that's a reason for limiting PVP content/options, and what I've been able to find isn't striking me as strong evidence to the contrary.

The first is the objectives one that you see mentioned in the second quote.

Trading objectives, then termed "cap trading" was the most efficient means of completing the quest(and sometimes the only means). So pretty much everyone did it, instead of pvping. Then Bioware removed it and replaced with a kill daily (30 kills) and kill weekly (150 kills)

The kill daily and valor trading were two separate issues. Valor trading was born out of the change that caused kills to grant valor, and was only a problem because valor gated gear and warzones gave dramatically less valor than they do now.

Kill trading was the only efficient means of finding 30 unique characters to kill(let alone 150), because there wasn't any reason for players to really meet up anywhere on opposing sides, there being nothing to contest. Because of this, they removed the new daily, the kill daily. The removal of the kill daily is what people mean when they mean the removal of Ilum. Now that doesn't say so much about the personalities of the players as people will generally go for the easiest route, but in the future the design needs to be exploitation proof.
