Sure I'll just drop what I'm doing....

I'm not some MMO champion. I've played several but I'm no expert player at any of them. I say that so I don't sound too much like a jerk when I say this....

I'm in the last parts of my sith assassin story. I go to Korriban to do my class mission there at lvl 54. I could probably have finished a few other missions and gone as 55, but I digress....on my way to the council chambers I get a whisper from a player I have never met that says "Hey can you help me plow through my missions here so I can level fast?".

I hate that. I'm no big fan of power leveling, but if others do it, that's their business. What irked me is why ask someone you don't know? Do you think I logged on and decided to go to Korriban with my high level character just 'cuz? That I want to spend my time following you around on missions that I've done myself, will offer me nothing just because YOU don't have the patience to do them?

I suppose it bugs me the most because back when City of Heroes was active I had several times where low level players would straight up ask me for 100,000 influence (that games version of credits, or gold if ya like) or to powerlevel them and then have the friggin' nerve to get angry if I refused. (Not kidding...I was actually shocked that someone would get so angry because I didn't want to GIVE them my in game currency or basically follow them around and help them do missions far above their level)

I can understand asking for help, but honestly what this guy wanted was for me to run around and kill everything for him. I wouldn't do that for a guild mate, I sure won't do it for someone I have never even seen.

Lol. I had someone randomly whisper me once, just to chat. They soon asked me what my highest imp character was (was on a consular), and then promptly asked me to log on this character and go to fleet. Why thanks, but I logged on to this character to play it. Not to randomly log on to another character because some stranger asked me to.

On my first level 50, I went to Coruscant for some reason or another, and I got a whisper from a level 16 asking for help on the Heroic at the Jedi Temple. I guess he was using the Search function to see what level 50s were on the planet or something.

Anyway, being that this was before I got too jaded by bad behavior, I figured what the heck, said "Sure", and got on the speeder to head over.

The very moment I managed to shlep all the way there, the level 14 magically vanished right in front of me when his PvP queue popped, without an apology, comment, or response to my query.

/grrrr

Always reply with "500,000 credits please." They hate that, and their reaction is funny.

Then ignore it. End of story. Why the drama?

I have had this go a couple ways.

1. Some losers just wants to be boosted and i just ignore his or her whining and go about my business.

2. Some poor guy is super frustrated and can't beat a boss and does not understand why. I will help these people from time to time. that being said, it doesn't mean I'm going to fight their battle. I'll usually check his or her exp. lvl and if their geared properly and then determine whats the best plan of action. One time I saw a guy on Nar Shaada having a terrible time and desperate for help. I joined his group and immediately noticed he was way too low on exp. lvl. We talked and together we discovered he had accidentally skipped a whole planet on accident (his 1st mmo ever) (If I remember correctly he missed Balmora). He thanked me and left Nar Shaada and headed for Balmora.

3. The Mistake- you know what I'm talking about. You help a guy out and now they wont leave you alone. I was on Nar Shaada (again) working on a bounty and I got side tracked. I was passing the World Boss and a low lvl guy was just standing their staring at it and then the guy goes Kamikaze style and attacks the WB and yes he died in less than 10 sec's then he revived him self and continued staring at the WB ( the person has not seen me yet). I'm 55 and in all Oricon geared so, I decide it's gonna be this guys lucky day. I send him an invite which he accepts and I essentially kill the WB and let the lowbie have all the loot. THIS WAS A MISTAKE! battle was over and I take off. Not but 5mins latter he whispers about another WB some where else and wants my help. I explain that I'm busy and WB are usualy done in large groups. 5min's after that he whispers again about a 4 man heroic he wants my help on and it went on like that for 2 days until I set him to ignore.

So, I'm sitting there on fleet, listing some stuff for resell and I get this whisper from someone I don't know.

Him:"Hey."

Me:"....hey."

Him:"Can you help me out? I need to buy something off the GTN and I don't have the credits."

By this time, I've done a /who on him and found out he was a lvl 15 jugg. Cool. A new player.

Me:"Sure, what'd you want?" Because I'm not hurting for credits and I like to help people out and I know how painful it can be as a new player with crappy starter gear.

Him:"A Cathar Honor Sword."

This dude wanted me to buy him an 8mil Honor Sword. Granted, I could have done it, but wth, I wouldn't come that much out of pocket for a guildie, much less a complete stranger.

So, instead, I bought him a neutral alignment lightsaber appropriate to his level and got cussed at for my troubles.

I like to reply, "Can't powerlevel someone in this game. I'm more than 5 levels over the mission so you wouldn't get any XP. ... Cant level without XP. They usually reply, "Oh, thanks anyway."

I can't believe anyone even thought it was appropriate to just ask a stranger to buy them something, never mind a Cathar honour sword. I know it's just in-game credits, not real money, but still, I think it's cheeky.
