They weren't equal but it was well understood that purple was superior to blue was superior to green. So in order to get rid of numbers that were the same but provided different benefits (that most everyone understood), they chose to use numbers that are different, unintuitive, and almost no one understands.

The gear rating is a poor system for leveling. That's my complaint. I'd like to have the option of having a simple and effective system to visualize my gear "quality" with just a glance. A system that already exists, not that I'm asking to develop an entirely new thing.
I wasn`t implying you did. I only emphasized that it is not a tragedy; confusing and slightly annoying, sure, but, ultimately, only a new thing that we will have to get used to eventually.

Well, since I've been rotating through alts for their weeklies this weekend, I have to say, I'm finding the new system sucks for my altoholic play style. I open my character panel, look at the numbers scratch my head and don't bother researching if I need to update my mods. If I can't tell quickly and easily just how out of date my mods are, I"m not likely to update them unless I die because someone sneezed on me, or because I'm capping out my coms.
My name is Milind. I checked it again and can confirm you there is no bug with any companion in the game.

New system or people requiring you to be overgeared (30k, 35% Shield Chance, 23% Absorb wasn't enough for tank before SM Czerka FPs got buffed, I don't even want to know what limit is now)?

My Juggernaut is left at 50, with some mix of Columi and Rakata (that`s around rating 136 or something), as it was one of the last toons I needed, since I liked DPS and healers more. I THINK I did her by the book, pre RoTHC with pretty much dead on 30% def chance with Retaliation up, and 50% on both shield chance and absorb. All it took was some smart mix and matching and blue augments. I haven`t tanked since, so I really have no idea what`s NEEDED, not panic required now.

I`d wager I can improve HEAVY on those in 5 more levels and if I decide to buy all the 1000 classic comms, or whatever you call the ones that you get by exchanging old gear (Tionese / Columi / Rakata / etc)

Those numbers are from last year, however, in gear that wasn`t top tier last year. So I don`t think the numbers listed by you were too good even then, let alone now

The previous system didn't need to show such difference because that was already shown. By their colors. Now colors are pretty much obsolete.

Yes it is more accurate, but such precision is certainly not needed. So this utility (not requireing colors) is pretty much worthless. Giving up a simple, intuitive and effective system to get such marginal advantage is certainly an awful bargain.

But again, why not the option ?

The way it is now is actually more logical than the old way, and to quote myself 3 pages ago:

Its a change, its weird now but you will get used to it.
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

You apparently missed what I was saying. Purple is not always superior to blue nor blue always superior to green. Higher level was frequently not superior to the lower level item you already had.

In my view, a system that was assigning the same number to items of different power levels was flawed. Stating that "almost no one understands" is shown to be untrue based solely on the responses in this thread alone.

I just wish THIS rating system would be more logical in and of itself. There internal logic of how rating is calculated is inconsistent.

It's not that I object to a rating system. I just don't like the one we have. Never did, which is why I used the item level instead.
