I find it kind of funny that the OP says he saw nothing to indicate that this only the first part of an epic new storyline, even though the first quest clearly says "Forged Alliances Part I"

Everytime you see the Dark Council convened however, you see it on Korriban, not Dromund Kaas.
IIRC you only see them convened twice. Once in the SW storyline ending and once in the SI storyline ending.

Not really a precedent.

And even then, ALL the council members weren't present.

I don't even understand what you're trying to say here or dispute to be honest.

Previous user mentioned that the Dark Council chambers are in "Drumond Kaas", which is incorrect for several reasons, starting with the fact it's actually "Dromund Kaas" and ending with the Council apparently having chambers on the Sith Academy in Korriban as well, which is where we see them convening.

http://www.swtor-spy.com/codex/sith-academy/1397/
Quote:
Rising above the Valley of the Dark Lords, the Sith Academy is a monument to the power of the dark side and the might of the Sith Empire. Would-be students throughout Imperial space compete for the privilege of studying within the Academy halls, but only those strong in the Force are selected–and most of those perish in the struggle to become Sith. Beyond the training rooms lay many secrets that remain hidden to all but the most powerful Sith Lords. Higher levels contain chambers for members of the Dark Council, where few living creatures are permitted. Whispered rumors suggest that the Emperor himself has a sanctum within the Academy, but no one has seen the Emperor on Korriban for many years.
So again, what are you trying to say exactly?

Also, in TOR comics and novels, they also convene in Korriban as well, NOT in Dromund Kaas alone if memory serves me right, if at all.

Actually they were, even if by hologram. The living ones anyway.

In case you didn't notice, most MMO's have enemies just standing around waiting for you to attack.
How is that an excuse to not do something different and better?
I see their R2 droid and I grab it. No, you can't have it back, silly rabbit!

They really went for the least amount of effort here.

We see nothing of the assault on these planets.. you just land there and there's suprisingly few jedi and sith there to fight you, why are there trooper, agent bosses and such there defending it? should be all jedi and sith bosses.
And why is no one, and I mean NO ONE of the defenders saying a word about your attack? only the last one, in a weak cutscene.. thats it. No emotion in it either despite the dramatic situation certainly requiring strong emotions.

Familiar NPC's just get offed without even getting a word of dialogue, come on! they should say something! give some dialogue before the fights and maybe after. Not just at the final thing.

And when its all over my jedi got a message from shatele shan where she only speaks of how bad it is that a council member died.. not concerned at all about all other jedi that died appearantly, the knowledge lost or all of that.
Weak writing.

I'm a pretty big defender of the game and give the devs the benefit of the doubt 99.99% of the time but I must admit that 2.7 left me feeling underwhelmed in a serious way.

Tactical flashpoints? I'm sorry they're just awful. Zerg zerg zerg, no tactics or thought required.

KDY had the nugget of a good idea and could have been brilliant if they had just put a more effort into the encounters but the new ones are literally so dull I almost fell asleep on my first play through and serve absolutely no purpose after the first play through as the loot is garbage, the challenge is non existent and you cant even spam them to level your 14th toon to avoid planetary missions.

There was not even any good 'story' inside them besides a few perfunctory scenes, if you're going to hype FP's around the 'EPIC STORY' they are adding you need to actually have some story in them like in Esseles/Black Talon/Directive 7

The fact that they are so poorly optimised for performance is just the icing on the cake (my machine grinds a bit during 16mans I can handle that but 4 mans? come on)

DF NiM seems good, but they broke HM DF and DP to add it, so it kind of eats into any kudos I could give it when they cant add stuff without breaking stuff they were not even supposed to be changing (DP)

New Huttball map? I don't PvP that much myself other than to get relics, so I'm not the man to comment on this, but its nice that the added something for the PvP crowd after the wall of NO that was the PvP FAQ.

New GSF map? I fell behind the levelling curve in GSF after a few weeks so I dont play anymore, so once again I'm not qualified to comment on this one. Happy for the fans though, 2 maps must have been getting a tad stale.

BW knows how to do an interesting storyline, even within a limited space just look at the Macro quest line and the Tion Hegemony FP storyline. The difference in quality between those and the new Tython/Korriban FP's is so pronounced that its kind of hard not to feel more than a little discouraged.

First lets get this out of the way I am a fanboy. I like Star Wars and the entire EU.

I agree with the original post. And I really don't like tactical flashpoints. I play roles because I like playing them. I want to heal, tank, or dps. And to create these short little tactical flashpoints so that everyone dps's just get short queue times for me and what I like sucks. Plain and simple!

I have played this for two years. Are the people who keep defending it and saying oh content is coming just be patient over and over mostly people who have just started the game within the last few months to a year? This big story arc that's coming in June better hold up to the EU and to larger than life story telling along with 'real flashpoints' and more 'operations' in June. Not spread out over the the rest of the year. Hire more artists, more coders, more vo talent. Make sure they all know the EU lore for this time period. Stop reskinning the same stuff over and over. It just feels like they're nursing the game a long to me. The problem is nothing else how there MMO wise is appealing to me I've played them all.

The simple solution for you, then, is to tank in the tactical FP, or heal, or dps as the whim strikes you. My guild tends to build groups for these FPs, including KDY, that have all the trinity represented, simply because we want to. Not required doesn't mean "You can't use them". Choosing to limit yourself by choosing to only queue through GF for PuGs isn't the fault of anyone but yourself. They do, however, serve their intended purpose, people that do nothing but PuG as a DPS can get into the FPs w/out waiting a half hour, or more, for them to start.

On the same server: Average wait time for my Tank to PuG into a HM FP is 5 minutes or so. For my Mara, it's more like 30 minutes +++, and the same applies to my Sniper. I haven't tried any of my 55s on the Pub side yet, preferring to wait until we have a group on that side to run the content with. Average wait time for KDY, the only Tactical FP I have run on the Pub side? 2 minutes, tops. My time is valuable, to me. If I can get in a group fast, and complete the run regardless of who shows up in a PuG, I'm down with that.
