2.7 makes me worried about SWToR's future

I've been playing for almost two years now, so maybe it is time for me to move on (13 55's as well, so I pretty much made sure I covered every story from multiple angles) but the cadence for content has been UNDERWHELMING. Dread Masters were a part of 5 of the 6 operations, but there really has been zero content updates since DF/DP with story, adding a couple of flashpoints for "new story" that essentially give you next to nothing story wise, then make subs wait 3-4 months before the next snippet of story/progression is extremely sad. I'm with the OP on this one, after two years I finally have reached a point where I feel like it may be time to walk away. Re-colors of armor, Zero new Operations going on 7 months(NiM and HM modes are not NEW CONTENT for pete's sake BW), 1 new 8v8 huttball map in 2+ years, and generally now there is just a ton of SoonTM things. I'm starting to feel that they really are no-longer interested in growing the games story and progression, but instead adding to GSF (twitch pvp can be fun, but its not why I pay for this game)- even the New Exciting Story line is slow to start and full of holes, if your gonna advertise a new story line, make sure its more than a couple of conversations long IMHO.

Yesterday, the guildies and I were doing the new FPs and just smashing the place up and having a good time and one of them goes "If the whole game was this much fun, I wouldn't have to get drunk to play!"

He meant it as a compliment, mind you.

Here's my foresight on the matter.

As a previous post said, this is just the beginning of the story arc. I imagine in 3.0, the war between the republic and empire will be in full swing. I can envision a world pvp area again, operations dealing with factions, and possibly a couple more planets.

The information we received from The Shroud gives me the idea that new planets are coming.

Further more *SPOILER ALERT*
Spoiler

As far as the Quesh Huttball is concerned, I agree with the OP. BW/EA really want to make you play ranged dps. 2.0 was the Rise of Ranged DPS, and now in 2.7, its the Fall of Melee DPS. Snipers/Slingers have a HUGE advantage in this new WZ. To the point it makes me sick. They want balance, and they tilt the scales.

As much as I want faster release of operations content, I think people are repeatedly confusing the word "Content"

New Flashpoints are "Content" (Kuat, Tython, Korriban)
New Cartel Packs are "Content"
New Warzones are "Content" (New Buttball Arena)
New Events are "Content" (Rakghoul)
Galactic Starfighter is "Content" (not to mention new ships within that content)

NiM Version of Old ops is "Content"

Before end of year we will have Barbie Place House, I mean Galactic Strongholds and Guild Ships, which I can’t imagine is a small development, and is something people have been asking for since launch, and yes it is technically "content"

Don’t misunderstand, as a fan of world events and operation pve content, I want operations to be released faster too, and I want world bosses and operations to be a higher focus and faster release, and I think it having took over 6 months for NiM to hit after original DF/DP is crazy, that being said........

With regard to introducing "content" they have actually been putting out quite a bit of it.

Just because you didn’t enjoy it, or it didn’t satisfy the specific need you had doesn’t mean it’s not content and didn’t require substantial work.

Now it is on Bioware to ensure the content is released timely enough and diversely enough to cover all players enough to keep existing subs and attract new ones.

As shown by your fantastic collection of evidence, they do nothing but twiddle their thumbs all day. Good detective work.

New Flashpoints - Of course the setting is cool, going back to Korriban/Tython and its being invaded. The problem is, it didn't feel like it was being invaded. It looks like they are standing around waiting to be killed.
This is different than mobs standing around in the rest of the game how?

Quote:
Where are the defending forces? Where are the bodies of the defenders? On Korriban the last boss is standing in the Dark Council room! Where the hell is the Dark Council and why didn't they destroy this one crappy Jedi in the throne room?
You're killing them? They cleared away the bodies? The council wasn't there?

Not only that, EAWare promised an "epic" story. From what I saw, there was no indication of how the attack was made or any hint of what was next. It was kind of like "Hey - you beat em. Good job. now go back tot he fleet and stand there." The 2 instances just felt very "meh" to me.
This is just the start. Also, you didn't actually do the story did you?

Quote:
New Huttball - While I really like the original Huttball, this one has far less strategy to it. It could have very well been that it was the first day and lots of people weren't really trying but it just seemed like a deathmatch with the advantage to Ranged DPS. The other thing is, if you get the ball taken from you on the way up to the opposing teams ramp, your goal is literally a force speed burst away. So I guess that's some strategy, just sit on the ramp to your own goal, wait for the ball carrier, kill him and then just walk on in to the enemy's goal. Seems kinda "meh" to me.
People have been playtesting the warzone for a few weeks now, were these concerns not brought up?

Quote:
New PvE and PvP tiers - These are all just recolored crap. In the course of playing this tier, I think I can count on two hands how many people actually wear the ugly garbage that is Obroan and DreadForge, and all they have for us is a recolor? It's just really disappointing to see the lack of effort being put into this games "major updates"
They've only been doing this...since launch. Every tier gets multiple recolors. Not sure why this surprises you.

Quote:
NiM Mode - This is not additional content. I'm sorry it just isn't. Adding an extra mechanic plus some more health and damage does NOT make me feel like I haven't been raiding the same thing for 6 months. Come on EAware, you can do better than this.
Well that would certainly depend on your perspective on what constitutes "content".

Anyway, this is just my two creds.
Thanks for the update.

Welcome to 99% of all the MMO's in the world?
In case you didn't notice, most MMO's have enemies just standing around waiting for you to attack.

Well, when you are attacking, you are killing the defending forces (and any previously defeated defending forces would have been moved by the remaining defenders).
When you are defending (well, reclaiming), you are quite a bit after the event so most of the bodies would have been cleared out by the attackers (because nobody wants to stomp around in dead bodies... well maby some sith, but you get my point).

The Dark Council would most likely either have been killed or fled and most likely not attacked by one "crappy jedi", but several jedi strike teams.
That jedi is just the one that's still waiting around for the inevitable reinforcements to arrive.

You do realize that this is just the start of a year-long storyline right?
You get to know the rest of the story (including who was behind it) during the coming years new content.
It wouldn't be very epic if they just laid it all out for you in the first flashpoint now would it?

Dawg....

It's patch 2.7.
Not patch 2.0 or 3.0.

You expected too much.

2.7 isn't a "major" update.

Don't we get this same type of post after every "major" release?

Did you grab the breadcrumb quest on the Fleet? Or did you just immediately queue for the Flashpoints? Because the story is all in the surrounding quest rather than the FPs themselves, which are mostly just straight-up killing things.

I do like where the story is going. I'm intrigued.
