Hourly deals on the CM this friday?

Sales will still be going on this evening. And if they waited, Europe would be mad. Interesting way they've chosen to do it, but it keeps people coming back to see what there is. They even tossed in those pink dyes to keep us on our toes.

Yeah it's pretty obvious it has everything to do with ESO even though people will deny it. I simply can't see any other reason they'd do a limited sale like this when many people can't take advantage. The only ones who can, are the ones who also COULD be playing ESO instead. That's the way I see it.

I don't understand why so many of you are spending so much time debating WHY they are doing it. Its not like you are going to uncover so secret conspiracy that no one else knows about.

I'll TELL you why they did it.

To make money.

Doing it hourly gets people to log in... hourly.

Doing one big sale all day gets people to log in... once.

Bored pretty much. Can't play at the moment so debating stuff to keep my entertained. I'm a simple guy like that...

Because ESO is launching. And the reason I keep repeating it is not to poke fun at SWTOR or because I'm a fan of ESO, but because SO MANY PEOPLE are complaining that BioWare is doing it today and not during the weekend and no one seems to understand why.

Telling the people the context behind the sale sheds a little light on why it's happening today and not tomorrow or Sunday. That's all.

Ironically, the argument could be made, just the same, as to why so many people are questioning, why so many other people are questioning. Group a, is curious why the sale is on. Group b, is curious, why group a is concerned it: and demonstrating it with posts. So then Group b, posts, about group a, posting posts.

Extreme hourly sales have a different effect than longer duration more moderate sales.

TOR's age group tends to be older than most MMOs, and as a result, are usually employed.
If there were people who took time off work to play ESO, they would've probably been in the soft-launch, and wouldn't still be taking time off today(unless they're teens or college students).
The Cartel Market is also targetted at people with significant amounts of spare cash, unlike your average teen.


I'd speculate that they're experimenting to see how these extreme sales affect their CM revenue as well as the in-game market(very expensive items are being sold relatively cheaply), and intentionally chose a time where most of the sales would occur during off-hours. If Bioware were to adjust dates and timing for things to deal with competitors, I would expect it to be changed dates for content patches and the like, not CM sales.

All I know is... Dulfy you are amazing. Truly. I have no idea how you can keep up with everything that is TOR especially at times like these. Today, you have, on the hour, provided the latest update...

I enjoy this game, that is why I play. But Dulfy, you are a significant part of that, from walkthroughs, to patch info, to event details, to gear... unbelievable. Thank you!
