That isn't fix and is actually pretty bad from a business perspective because then you're limiting it to only a section of the game's population. In other words they stand to make less money off it that way.

There's also nothing saying there won't be future cutscenes involving your ship.

Even with problems/limitations that exist you could still make the ship look pretty different. Different textures sets alone would go a long way. You just can't really alter the geometry in any significant way.

I would have loved to see the ships become a housing sort of thing, but I can understand why that would be hard for them to do over a new system using instanced homes on various planets. It is still nice to see these sort of things added to games that are lacking them. Why newer MMOs even launch without some sort of housing system on day one is beyond me at this point. They make an awesome time and money sink for the game, and become very addicting very fast

I would much prefer having ships that can be customized to having an apartment that I can add things to. Doesn't mean that I won't get a house, but if I had to chose which I think they should have spent time on, it would have been ship customization. Especially since I already considered that this games version of player housing.

And I'm fine with changes in ships not being anything that really affects the layout.

I'm sure they will add ship customization in a limited fashion at some point however it's one of those things that even in a limited fashion would be fairly time consuming since they'd be having to do it across 6 different ship models.

That's the other benefit for them to do housing, ie one single layout versus 6 different unique ones. That's assuming that each apartment layout is the same per planet, but if each of the 3 are unique then that's still only 3 layouts.

It is illogical for the discussion about player ships being our house to customize now. We are getting strongholds and it is best we put our energy of discussion about that and how we want things to go, look like, give feedback so we get the most out of it that we can. You will not be disappointed.

Discussion about "this is how our ships can be housing instead" is not relevant anymore.. We are getting a great housing system that will span multiple planets and more things as time goes on. Just be patient !

The Only reason. ONLY REASON. We are not getting heavy upgrades to class ships like strongholds is because the ships are too littered with messy coding for class story cutscene triggers, companions etc.

They have admitted time and again, they cringe at doing changes to the class ships. Its the reason why we cant use other class ships after we get them to max level. Or get new ships to fly with, hence G.S.F.

I'd imagine at this point that a lot of the update is feature locked with things like details and specifics being the things they're trying to figure or decide upon. For instance will you be able to move bound items to your legacy storage is a smaller thing that they probably haven't nailed down yet, but the bigger things of what the apartments are going to look like, what features they'll have, what furniture is available, etc, has already been decided or nailed down at this point.

A lot of what they're doing seems to be a simpler version of The Clone Wars Adventures housing system. That and some of items they're adding like the Temple Guardian Armor and Tobus Speeder are/were popular items in The Clone Wars Adventures. I guess it's not surprising though since that game is shutting down.

That wouldn't fix the issues with the companion conversations on board of your ship, which are not necessarily tied to your story, if you haven't raised the affaction high enough you might not see those for a long time after you hit 55... I know, I think I saw the last of Qyzen's dialogues about a year after hitting 50 (sucked to raise affaction with him back then).

Your stronghold will be your home. Your ship is for traveling the galaxy. That's what it's going to be.
