That D3 happened to come out about six months after SWTOR, while the drop-off was happening... well, i could just as easily say:
"A lot of people thought the same thing after this game launched and Max Payne 3 was released. Two completely different games, completely different styles. A lot of those people left to play Max Payne 3 and never came back. Population plummeted and BioWare finally merged servers 4 months later."
Does it count that I remember a lot of people in my guild at the time that left for D3 and never came back?

Granted, there are other things. After months of SWTOR being out people could have just gotten bored with it after rushing to end game. Some might have found it just not to be their cup of tea and searched else where. Maybe the shininess of the game wore off. Or a combination of all of the above. Maybe some moved to D3 and just decided to never come back for whatever reason.

I feel this would be easier visually, but TORStatus only keeps track of up to one year. :/

Wildstar is already ahead of TOR based on the fact they have cross server queues. Which means their matchmaking system will work. No more having to only do ranked 4 v 4 during certain times. Queue up and play whenever!

And even during graveyard hours comparing Wildstar and SWTOR pops Wildstar will vastly outpopulate this game

Why don't you go play their game instead of telling us about it then?

SWTOR just needs to keep content coming and fix some things. SWTOR will be just fine.

Not getting all the ESO hate, it's really quite good actually, reminiscent of both TES games in gameplay and Dark Age of Camelot in PVP mechanics and tone. But perhaps the fantasy setting will prevent it from competing too directly with the sci-fi SWTOR.
ESO is a console game. many people wont play a game with the limitations of a console game.

I would have to disagree. I remember the day it came out almost half of our entire server (The Switfsure) jettisoned this game for D3. At the time I was on the top PVP guild on my server. After D3 released over half the guild left and eventually we had to merge with another top PVP guild who suffered a similar fate. Maybe my experience is subjective, but from what I seen D3 decimated this game. Which is weird because D3 was no where close to SWTOR IMO.

LOL I was here from fairly early beta and the PVP has never been called the best part of this game so think your confusing this game with something else

or you just imagined you read that
or you did read that and ignored the pages and pages and pages of pvp complaints from release on.

PVP in this game has always been a disappointment over all for pvpers
Most folks came in expecting world PVP, not warzone instances
when people finally got over the lack of world pvp they noticed how unbalanced the warzones were class wise
then gear came in and grew that seperation.

YOU might have liked the pvp TOR offered at the start
the VAST MAJORITY did not

So think you might wanna go back and recheck our opinion that you made in your statement

This game was never hailed as universally good or great pvp.

The initial draw to this game was KotOR story line period and the hopeful expectation of world PVP/RVR (which never came to pass).

Honestly ignore TOR, I cant think of a single MMORPG that uses warzone pvp as being hailed as universally outstanding pvp.

When it comes to warzone pvp its pretty much viewed as the weakest pvp format going in MMORPGs.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

SWTOR has nothing to fear for some games simply because it is a Star Wars game. Star Wars fans will play this game, just as ES fans will play ESO, and so on and so on.

ESO is a much bigger threat to WoW and LOTRO because it's the same genre. Wildstar is sci-fi so games like SWTOR and STO might take a dent. I'm going to be playing both, but the idea that ESO is a threat to Star Wars is laughable.
Star wars is Science-Fantasy. Just putting it out there.
