i'm also in the camp that would rather have equal gear for everyone instead of a progression, but i don't really understand why it is a big deal either way tbh. We play warzones because we like to play warzones, and get the gear as a side effect, no?

I have like/dislike relationship with needing to gear up in PvP. You have to go trough some time only to get your *** handed to you repedeatly. On the other hand if I don't have the gear as a goal to work towards then I get bored very quickly.

Grinding for any particular asset(s) to gain a stat advantage is retarded, and as mentioned before, lazy design.

While waiting for the newer MMOs to arrive, I've been playing Falcon BMS with friends on-line. Forgot how much I enjoy that sim solo, but with friends, and using new player mod theaters, it's pretty damn fun.

Players don't grind for a F-16, then grind for radar, then grind for ECM, then grind for sparrows, then grind for fuel tanks, etc. Players chose which load out they need for the mission. The fun is playing the missions, ala skill vs skill - there is no grind for assets.

Want a carrot for SWTOR? How about the devs focus less on gear grind, less on CM items, but focus more on expanded storylines, more PVP, whether it be open world or bunch more new mission based warzones.

I don't play GSF, but seems like more grinding to me. What if GSF actually had a bunch of skill based mission , where you play a role, either bomber, cap, escort instead of grinding parts to be uber? Something like that would get me to do a second look at it.

Not going to happen. This game is too far entrenched into the hamster wheel mindset of gear grind, of which I'll be taking a break from.

The gear grind sucks but if it makes the end tier BIS then I'm fine with it. Also it wouldn't hurt to kill players on oricon in PvE gear even faster

Of course the ugly Obroan, but they couldn't just leave it at plain-old-ugly, they had to go ahead and add garish blinking lights which they know we also love (sarcasm). I love double-whammies.
^THIS^

Imo I don't mind the grind. It is the appearance of the new gear that needs to be worked on. The Battlemaster and the Centurion gear looked the coolest, they need to bring those appearances back.

There are two types of video game players:
1- PVE story line players
2- PVP competitive players
Some like a little of both, but those that prefer one over the other play a game for different reasons. Trying to mix the same gear ideas for both PVP and PVE are like mixing oil and water for many players.

There are two kinds of video game PVP styles:
1- Grind for gear/stats = huge gaps between veteran players and new ones, making it hard for new players to contribute to a team for a long time. Losing a lot, for a long time, and/or not being valuable to a team is discouraging and causes many player to give up. Especially if one does not have the time to daily grind.
2- Skill and Strategy with unlocks. Call of Duty, Battlefield, World of Tanks are games that don't take a long time to get good equipment and be competitive, and have fun.
Both can be fun for different people but here is the thing; PVE has to have a good story and "rewards ahead" to keep most interested (like KOTR). BUT most players who prefer PVP don't do it for some gear reward but for the thrill of the competition.
As a PVPer the ONLY reason I grind gear is so I could be competitive, and THEN I would actually start having fun.
MY VOTE: no more PVP gear grind
(besides, all the threads about how to gear up will be obsolete)
