People seriously underestimate how annoying an army of combat sentinels are going to be.

And sorc / sages who couldn't deal with smash (cleanse is your friend)... god help them against pyro's and combat.
There is a point for the wrong reasons. Sorcs will have fade out and purge dots. The total ranged buff and smash nerf will make tanks + healer difficult to kill since ranged attacks are single target.

Honestly, I think the DPS changes are fine. Smashers were never as bad as people made them out to be. (Just annoying in that it was easy-mode for bads.) The damage reduction is fine and the spec will still be completive, only requiring a little more work. It's a lot like the Assault/Pyro changes were in that regard.

However, the target requirement is a much bigger nerf than people seem to be giving it credit for.
SWTOR PvP: now running on the Ellipsis engine.

You clearly didn't read the OP then if you think its 'fine'. Its losing 180% of its damage.... Not sure what makes you think thats 'okay'. It was a very easy spec to counter (use a taunt on it and its damage drops by quite a bit). The spec is focused around AoE damage (its a stupid design, but hey thats how it works) so now Bioware takes away 180% of the AoE.....

lets nerf gore from the marauders carnage tree to 30% pen then see how they do then. (same basic idea)

Its gutting the entire design of the Spec.... 7 second intervals of single target 10k damage... (assuming you're not being taunted or having your damage reduced) Most specs can do 10k within 2 GCDs. A 'good player won't be able to 'make it work'.. now there is zero reason to even play the spec..

Partly false. Today on my sorc I got smashed (teaches me to stop helping other people under focus) for 10816 and I have full augmented PvP gear.

This is also know as "parse out of my ***".
The whole chain happens in a blue moon and only with WZ buff and vs PvE geared players.

If it happened often enough to be of any signifiance, then you'd see the forums crash with complaints.

Gore is already self nerfed as is (counterable in 1000 ways and lasts a nothingness), no need to do it more.

Also, thank you for the surge info, I didn't know because I typically run Vigilance and don't really care for the instadeath that is smash spec

(and doesn't carnage hit Force scream and Dispatch for 8-10k during gore?)
Yep, Scream auto-crits hit for 8k+ and Vicious Throw crits during Gore windows also go for 7k+ most of the time. Yet, in Rage you get a crit chance increase on Vicious Throw...and that insane surge makes it hit for 7-9k crits regularly on anybody not using a DCD. Wish my Screams in Vengeance would hit for more than 4-5k's ):

I believe he's taking Smash's base dmg to be 100%, and with all the buffs it goes over 300%.,of it's original dmg.
