Ok. So here is my nickel now that NDA has been lifted. I'm going to try and be as objective as possible and brief. Yes, I played Skyrim, Oblivion, etc. so I am a fan of the genre.

TESO is a fine game. But it is lacking. Things may change between now and launch but this last Beta gave me a good idea of what the final product will be like. I managed to make past level 10 on a couple of toons so I at least got the basics.

So... let's start with combat. Combat is great for ranged abilities not great for melee. Melee just didn't impress me because of clunky targeting and lack luster animations.

Skills: A very strong point in this game. You can customize your skills in almost any respect. Class is almost irrelevant. However, I am not sure that in the long run that is a good thing. Mages can carry and be proficient with a sword and combat? Ok... at the expense of the their mage abilities. So what have you really gained? IMO, class distinctions are necessary and with so much customization, eventually you will find that min-maxers will figure out what is best and you will have cookie cutter combinations.

Objectives: No "kill 30" type of objectives which is good. However, I found getting to quest objectives as laborious. And when you get there, you will kill more than your share. BTW... bosses left much to be desired early on but they are watered down as you learn the game which is ok.

Story: The story was interesting in parts and boring in others but there was no hook. No real reason I wanted to continue the long monologues. This is the first time I have ever clicked through dialogue in any game to be honest. I think the reason is because it seems static. I've become spoiled with SWTOR. SWTOR story is cinematic. The conversations usually include cinematic effects, different camera angles, close ups, far away shots etc. That keeps me interested. In TESO they were just NPCs with moving lips. Might as well have been a pic with moving lips. It didn't feel dynamic. Despite some good voice acting.

Last: There isn't enough there, in combat mechanics and story to make me interested. I had no problem with forced PvP. Sometimes you have to fight other factions, np. But... at the end of the day, I don't feel like this game is offering anything new. It is IMO almost a throw back.

I wouldn't go that far.

Terrible seems a bit of a strong word for an hour or two of forced PvP.

my 2p on ESO:

Seems like a heck of a good game with a lot of potential. Its lacking sure but so was TOR, WOW, Rift, EV2, GW2 (see where im going with this) at launch. An MMO never hits its stride til a few yars after launch and I think with ESO they have q hell of a strong base to work and expand upon.

Its important they have realistic expectations, 2m subs? nope, 500kish? Sure and that can be very profitable.

I was in WoW and ESO Beta(s). WoW was much more of a finished project than ESO. Granted WoW had issues (loot lag), but it was playable and ENJOYABLE. ESO is neither. They are months from a * smooth * release.

EDIT: EQ Landmark, which the devs openly admit is in ALPHA, is a better and more polished product, at this time, than ESO.

Honestly, this isn't rocket science, guys. ESO = Bad because Forced PVP.
Lol still posting lies?

Man, you're posting like ESO is some sort of threat to you and you are having panic attacks and massive amount of denial.

ESO is old,

Everything from game-play to object interaction, to just moving about. The game feels old. It does not feel like these developers used the most up to date methods.

The game does everything either the same as all the MMOs currently out, or it does it worst. There is no innovation, nothing new.

If you jump over to ESO from SWTOR, your just trading themes, oh and giving up the good story telling for above average dialogue.

I was tasked with rescuing people form the docks, they were trapped in buildings that had their doors/gates barred. When you interact with it to release the NPC's, they just appear from no where. The door doesn't open, the barring doesn't remove it self, the NPC's literally just appear and run away. When I saw that, I was like there are games out there that are 10 years old and can still give you better interaction than that.

The combat will bore you, take the already not so spectacular combat mechanics of the Elder Scrolls games, then dumb them down even further, make them clunky and not as responsive as one would expect and there you have it, ESO combat mechanic.

Bottom Line
You're simply changing themes switching from SWTOR to ESO and giving up on the Story Convos, if you skipped through most if not all side quests in SWTOR and just watched the class quests, then be prepared to skip that main quest along with the side quests in ESO, because that sh** is boring. Like a previous poster mentioned, no hook.
Dark Jedi Knight with a red saber....cool right?

Is that what you see when you read my posts? Interesting.

Yeah, that; and for the ability to have more than 16 people doing the same stuff at once without a lag fest.

Maybe you should get a decent computer. I do 16mans all the time and have no issues at all.
