Ok does any one here (trolling aside) think that static barrier is either stupid looking or just doesn't really work all that well when focused? I mean in any Star wars lore has any one ever seen this type of effect? Or was it just made up for this game?

Would this whole mechanic not be better served as some kind of extra damage while active say 20%? (sorc/sage only) 10% for players the buff is placed on, does not stack. I've only said 20% for the sorc/sage as they have no other real active defensive abilities that allow then to make actions while active. This would replace the current bubble which soaks X damage until broken. This would also look better if the animation was more like the sentinels rather than the blob or bubble effect.

As an example SWG Master enhancer had all its defensive's come from it's force pool and on being hit its armour buff would provide damage mitigation at force cost.

I know that this isn't SWG but the idea formed as a good basis on how to provide a lightly armoured character continuous protection until it's force pool was depleted. Thus simulating a so called master of the force using all of it's power. Rather than a pea being smashed by a large hammer.

This Force Armour (Sage) or Shroud of the Dark Side for Sorcs could provide X% damage reduction and additional effects relevant to Talent tree for additional points. For example on hit the madness effect could return damage to the attacker, Corruption as it does now could heal the Sorc for % of health as well as bonus alacrity (% increase the lower the sorc/sages health is) while the buff is in affect, and Lighting grant Immunity to interrupts as well as Backlash available on a separate rate limit, as a skill. This would retain the specs close range AOE soft CC. These effects only work while the skill is active

I understand that not every one will agree with this idea, and bioware aren't even probably bothered but thought it was worth a go.

Please discus

No static barrier does look stupid, and I also agree it doesn't fit well with the game. They just basically copy/pasted the priest setup from WoW and made it the sorcerer.

Your idea isn't a bad one either, however for non, lightning spec players force management would become a problem.

Also if the 2.6 patch notes indicate anything I don't think they ever plan on doing anything like redesigning the class. Simple changes, if anything, will be all we will get.

I agree with the Admiral. I don't see the actually doing ANY of the ideas suggested in the Brainstorming thread.

Lots a GREAT ideas, but based on track record they seem convinced that Sage/Sorc are somehow OP against some crazy metrics.

I like the Static Bubble idea 20% reduction. A lot better than the XX Points and it's gone. Which in PVP is like 1-2 seconds from a smash monkey.

We still need to see something around force management in PVP resolved. PVE is workable in MOST the OPS today, but future ones are very questionable. They need to remove the Band-Aid (Consume/Self Heal) and make it a REAL CLASS on it's own and not a gimped one.

To improve Static Barrier and force generation for healers maybe when it pops from damage it should give you 150% of the force cost back?

what i find disturbing is them listening to people who say that sorc damage should be less because they heal.. a rubbish point that is prevailant in WoW but really makes no sense unless you play a pure dps.

people always angle for reasons developers should buff their class over another. Yet I have seen Mercs rule the roost, PTs rule the roost, and Operatives..now - Sniper/GS hybrid spec damage is far too high atm, needs to come down.

and sorc damage needs a boost, so does jugg damage.
If it feels wrong, it usually is.

Honestly, I just want the generic, more damage.

Make every attack hit slightly harder, only way to givea buff without possibly making OP or breaking the class.

Making an ability crucial to each spec hit harder would work, like FL and LS.

The ideal thing, and this would likely be way harder to develope and balance would be to give sorcs a sub 30% finisher like Assassin, Mara, and Snipers get.

A low or mild cost instant that can just be plugged in.

That would easily up sorcs dps without sending them over the top since it is only usable at sub 30%, but Im sure the PVP community would rage and like most changes PVE would be nerfed ot altered solely to satisfy PVP.

Mara/Jugg get Vicious Throw
Assassins get Assassinate
Snipers get Takedown

We already have a very lightning/electric effect based theme for abilities
Thundering Blast
Electricute
Shock
Lightning Strike
Force Storm
Lightning Burns
Force Lightning

And then there are the super Evillllll dark themed talents
Crushing Darkness
Affliction
Creeping Terror
Death Field

So why not be totally out of the box for the Sub 30% finisher talent

Sparky Boom Tickle (Attempts to destroy the target with a single, Sparkly BOOM Tickle that deals 3900- 4200 Internal damage. Only usable on targets at or below 30% max health. Finishes the Cool down of Crushing Darkness. Causes Strong, Standard, and Weak Opponents to be incapacitated with laughter for 3 seconds.
Berothius - Sorc DPS - Agríàs - Sage DPS - Mollywhop - Merc DPS

Yet we keep falling for it. I'm telling ya the day the Sorc/Sage forums go quiet and the in-game population metrics go down is the day they'll say "Uh oh, better do something." Because you know for absolute fact that if in their statistics of people logging in they see that roughly 14.3% of people are juggs/maras/snipers/ops/assassins/mercs/powertechs and almost none are sorcs, well let's just say that no game company would let that go. Impossible yeah, but would be effective.

Passive aggressive dudes.

Lol I had a great idea to give a bonus ONLY Sorcs/Sages can get. Sorcs/Sages get a force bubble right? Theoretically, if this were real, this could be projected around anything or anyone? Well why not let Sorcs/Sages cast it in their starfighter (self only of course)? Bonus shields!! And even better, your talent bonuses would also work. Self healing from Static Barrier now heals your fighters hull!!

Yep, suckered to the last.

The fact that operative healing and smashtards have gone unchecked for so long is everything you need to know how deeply flawed class balance is in the eyes of the devs. That's before adding on the asinine "heal to full" and insulting "l2p" comments, and the hybrid tax we pay for inferior utility.

Or maybe I should just switch to mara and join the smashmonkeys.

Bright side, Wildstar is coming soon

I know what you mean. Wasn't there for the great nerf, but came back around 1.6 and couldn't stand my sorc anymore. It's like all the fun in playing that class just died within 5 updates.
