... Have you actually listened to what Sith or Empire characters in Star Wars movies have sounded like? Palpatine is definitely Brit sounding. Dooku is a Brit. Grand Moff Tarkin was British. Even Vader had a florid suggestion of Brit accent to it.

I'm trying to think of someone on the side of the Sith or Empire that DIDN'T sound British... Boba Fett in the original trilogy... I think... or maybe he did.

I think your recollection is off.

Yes. Play on the Republic side instead. Or play an Imperial Agent; they switch to an American accent when they're under cover.

Otherwise, no. You're stuck with a British accent if you play on the Imperial side. Conversely you're stuck with an American accent if you play on the Republic side. So it's swings and roundabouts.

Oh and:

Ian McDiarmid is British (Palpantine)
Peter Cushing was British (Grand Moff Tarkin)
Christopher Lee is British (Douko)
Peter Serafinowicz is British (voice of Darth Maul)
Michael Culver is British (Captain Needer)
Kenneth Colley is British (Captain/Admiral Piett)
Michael Sheard was British (Admiral Ozzel)

The list does rather go on. Basically any on-screen Imperial has been played by a British actor. Mostly because they were filming in the UK (plus Hollywood does love to cast us as the baddies).

The only on-screen Imperial or Sith I can think of, off hand, who wasn't voice by a British actor is Darth Vader.

I suspect some are proud to be British, some hate to be British, and the vast majority couldn't give a stuff either way.
